I'm looking to play a new Neverwinter Nights 2 game, I've never finished it, but played to where you get your keep. I am wondering who everyone likes to take in their parties (for a majority of the time). So, tell me who is your favorite.

I've only played through as a Paladin derivative or Cleric / Warpriest, as I like my tanking. I usually take Elanee, Neeshka, Zhjaeve and alternate between Khelgar, Casavir and Grobnar. Of course, Shandra. But the one character I really look forward to getting is Sand. He's an awesome wizard and I love his character and dialogues. I tolerate Qara and her odd-shaped head only long enough to get Sand in Chapter 2.

 

Well being a dwarf fan I enjoyed having Khelgar in the party. He's there from the start, has some funny comments and argues quite a bit with Neeshka . He's also good aligned (which I was very happy to see since most other RPGs have only evil Dwarves for companions...ccc...).

Elanee is also OK, she's great in act1 but kind of goes silent in acts 2 & 3. But she's a decent fighter (once she gets the elephant skin feature) a good spellcaster and the only chance for a romance in this game.

And the no3 spot goes to Neeshka, you need a thief anyway and she also has some funny lines lines so why not...

 

Qara is just annoying. I never tolerate her.

I cannot stand Elanee's druid talk either, it's just too much, it doesn't even feel "real" .. never heard a druid talk like that in any game/book ... ever.

Zhjaeve (spelling?) would be ok if it wasn't for her love for the word: "know". It's wierd how something can ruin your day like that. If I ever absolutley have to have her in my party, I turn of the sound ("know that I am in need of healing")

Neeshka is .. well, more or less needed unless you're a rogue yourself. She's ok if you're CN or any Evil.

I love Sand, Khelgar, Bishop and Casavir. I guess Grobnar's ok since I love bards (hate his spell picks though, kinda ruins it .. ).

Overall, I'm quite disappointed with the NPC's in the game. Two CN, two evil ones, and one of them's a deserter? But then again, the game is leaned towards a lawful good character imo.

Last run-through I played as a Lawful Neutral Cleric/Warpriest. I don't like good characters that much, LN is an interesting choice that suits the campaign and gives some other role-playing aspects. I had:

* Me ofc, mainly did melee work
* Casavir, main tank
* Sand
* Neeshka

In the end, Khelgar ended up taking the fifth slot. He likes his new hammer - so do I

 

It seems that I'm one of the only people who likes Qara. She has a well made character who easily fits the Chaotic Neutral alignment. I also find the number of times she can light things on fire to be quite powerful.
