Actually this poll has nothing what-so-ever to do with Star Wars.

My previous post in RB gave me this idea for a poll. Although I have a good guess for the winner in this one I'd like to see the results anyway.

What is your most acute sense? I'm basing this according to natural science by the way, so there will be only five senses listed.

I've had my hearing tested, and it goes really high. I've even found that I can hear certain electronics working, which is kind of annoying when I have to turn off a TV to completely silence it.

 

Lets see... Bad sight (genetical), bad hearing (metal), not great taste (damn those hot pizzas that burned all my taste buds to hell...), my smell is alright, and so is my touch.

But of those remaining two, I don't know which. I mean, I've never had them tested (how do you?), so...

I'll go with touch, can't go wrong there. I probably ruined my smell sniffing empty cherry coke cans (not cocaine, the soda).

 

Taste, definitely - I am one of those people who think Evian tastes godawful and just CAN'T eat some things because they taste bad, no matter how hungry... (and this is things other people eat wiyth glee, not something like chopped llama liver, raw)

 

Well, my sight is deteriorating (joy to monitors ), my nose is always plugged (ahh, allergies) so my taste suffers as well. My sense of touch is useless (explains my gracelessness and tendency to accidentally shoulder door wells) so id have to go with hearing.

 

This is interesting so far. I was expecting sight to be predominant but it is spread pretty evenly at the start. I'm curious to see what happens when we get a few more people voting.

Dragonfly, we're geeks who spend most of our time glued to outr computers -t hat is not exacrtly conductive for great eyesight

 

Not to mention that I'd be willing to bet that half the people on this site wear glasses.
(Artificially enhanced sight doesn't count, BTW. )

 

Well...interesting poll.

For me, my best sense is touch. I've worked in a steel fabrication shop and in a cabinetry shop, so I need to feel my work to make sure it's the best it can be. Also, did you know, the human finger can notice a diference of 100/inch!

My next best sense would be hearing, even though I listen to my music really loud.

 

I voted sight, but I wish I hadn't, because thinking about it, it probably isn't my best sense, but it used to be.

I would say that there is a tie between smell and hearing.

My sense of smell is the best. I wear glasses and my hearing is slightly impeded.

Actually, smell and taste are one sense. You only taste acrid, salty, sweet and hot in your mouth. The rest goes through the nose.

Only some of the time? Other times it's nice?

I'm a smell guy myself. It was either that or hearing, my eyes are about as good as onions. But I'm very keen on detecting especially bad smells.

 

Despite destroying it with computer monitors, my sight is my strongest sense. I have a keen eye for small details that most don't even see.

Balance is a sense ain't it? I've always had good balance at least.

:edit: come to think of it, my smell is worse than all the others. And for that i am thankful actually. I can smell things if I really want to, but most times i dont notice bad smells untill someone points it out

 

Smell, I can tell the difference between and identify most wines (or at least the type of grapes used)
