Well...the jolly ol' scientist from the UK have developed a birth control pill for men. It doesn't kill a man's little swimmers, just temporarily paralyzes the muscle that turbo-pumps them out of the body. :D The article says that all a guy has to do it pop a pill "a few hours" before sex, and he's good to go hop in the sack. the article also says, "Within half a day, the sperm is on the move again." Here's the full story.

It must first pass the clinical trials and pass FDA (not sure what it's called in the UK) requirements...but if all goes well, guys could be popping these pills within 5 years.

The question is, would you (a guy) use it? :hmm:

Personally, I would. My wife is seeing the downsides to hormonal birth control...and wants off as soon as possible. If women can take a pill, so can guys. And if I can get my wife away from the mood swings, a few added pounds, and the health risks, then it's worth it. :thumb:

One funny thing I found at the bottom of the article was this quote:
"The pill would not prevent sexually transmitted diseases, she said."

That's just not true. It prevents *one* type of sexually transmitted disease...yep, that's right: CHILDREN! :rolling:

Yeah, I think I would. My friends always make fun of me because I always use a condom, but I think it's prudent considering how many people I know who have recieved a "unexpected surprise".

My gf is also unwilling to take the pill because she's afraid it will cause permanent damage to her birthing abilities.

Kit, I'm too lazy to read the article :D but what side-effects does it have for guys? I mean, sometimes girls get bigger breasts from their pill right? For guys, does anything "swell up"? :shake:

Sounds good. With no discharge as proof (and mess), men could finally claim to have been faking orgasms! :shake:
That's kind of what the clinical trials are for. ;)

Since I'm not sexually active, I wouldn't. If I was married, and my neurological disabilities (Tourette Syndrome, possibly others) were a serious genetic risk to any children I'd father, I'd look into a vasectomy rather than rely on a pill.

A large, firm, solid and emphatic YES! Although it does sound like it cuts out one of the more pleasurable experiences of sex, the discharge, and if there's no discharge there's a chance there'll be no climax.

Still, rubbers reduce the pleasure and birth control pills for women result in some unpredictable women.

im not going to use it, not messing with my body, a few clinical trials are a long shot from problem detection, what if long term use results in damage to the muscle and permanent damage over say, 10 years? short term clinical traisl wont detect that, this pill could be on the market in a few months, and you could pay a 600% mark up on the cost of the pill - and then in 10 years, you find that you cant ejaculate anymore.

now, theres the huge downside - for me, sex is usually a spur of the moment kind of thing, i dont say to my fiance "lets have sex in a few hours, ill take the pill now" and besides ive always used a reliable form of birth control, its called a condom, itll probably prove just as difficult to get kids who go out on the pull to use the pill as it is to get them to use a condom.

I'm a bit confused, does it stop you cumming or just stop it shooting out at a rate of knots? If it stops you from cumming, then I'm not sure about it to be honest. You'd get no sense of satisfaction out of sex, would you?

I mean, you get in from work, you've had a stressful day and want some sex to chill you out a bit. Your girlfriend/wife finishes up and you're still as wide eyed and stressed as you were before. I mean, we all know that moment just before you cum, that lovely couple of seconds, does that moment just stay? Or do you just never get there?

    Not sure about it.

i wouldn't mind trying it, but since sex with my gf aint something we plane hours before and since it sounds like it disable me from cumming, it dosn't sound as a good alternative to other forms of protection.

"but wouldn't interfere with performance or orgasm sensation"

"The result is a dry ejaculation."

So all it does is make you shoot blanks. You still get the feeling without any of the mess.

Interesting. I would not mind trying it out but condoms have never been a big problem for me either so it would also be a matter of price and occation. As a backup these would be nice since condoms are not completely infallable either.

I've been waiting for a decent male birth control pill to show up for quite a while already. For the principle of the thing, if for nothing else. I'm still not quite satisfied for the way this specific pill functions, but if it's best in the market and there isn't any big side effects, I'd use it.

Of course right now I don't have to worry much about such things. But when I do get into a relationship, it will be good to know that there's this option to take, since hormonal birth control for women used to mess up my ex.

Personally, I might consider having a vasectomy at some point of my life, probably after I'd had some kids first of course..

Well, if it's safe, what's there to lose? I would use it, had I need for it :)
OTOH, if it would indeed remove the climax, then I think people would choose other forms of protection instead. Also, condom's always a good choice, since no other option can protect from diseases (well, other than having a tested partner, which is of course always the better choice).
So, either that or the good ol' rubber. Or both to be even safer.

Well...since it's not a hormone treatment...if there are any side effects, they should be minimal.
Bingo. You get all the benefits of sex, orgasm and all, without the mess. :thumb:
Wait until you get married. Working opposite shifts doesn't help either. :bad: :rolling:

While I would use this in principle, I agree with what many others have said - the fact that it needs to be taken hours before sex makes it good in principle but faulty in practice. Unless you are actually planning on having sex later that day, it would be difficult to know when to take it. As such, anyone using this as a means of contraception will always need to have a backup plan. So for me, if I'm going to have to buy a pack of condoms anyway, then I'm disinclined to buy the pills too.

Nah, I wouldn't take it, since condoms do the same AND prevent contracting diseases (which is an important factor if you are into one-night stands).
