[IMG] I tried using MSN messenger today and it didn't work at all, after I installed it the website stopped working.

The only reasons I wanted it was so I could talk to my friend that moved away and learn about D&D from one of Frostbites' friends.

Guess I'm not meant to play it or see my friend again.

No, No, No and No. First thing I did after I installed Windows XP was to purge it of all the blasted M$ preinstalled garbage.

I use messenger to keep me updated on wether I have new email or not. It's also a good way to keep in touch with people I wouldn't just call up, or to talk directly to people I know over the internet.

    Quite the same as Faragon.

Instant mail notice, chat with net-friends, schoolmates. And that's about it.

But its quite useful, even if just for these things. :)

I'll say that 26 people isn't a long list, considering some people I know have 200+

I use ICQ for instant messaging and mIRC for chatting. I've been using ICQ since it first came out, and mIRC even longer.

not everything MS develops is bad, but what's annoying for me is they make you have it or try to push it your way with every product they put out. messenger 6 has some advantages, like sending files to friends that are too big to attach to emails, and it's also nice to be travelling, open the messenger and talk to friends you havn't spoken to in a long time. I don't know of any advantages any other similar programs have over msn messenger (yahoo messenger, icq).

I've got Trillian, so I guess you could say that I've got MSN Messenger. I absolutely will not subscribe to their Internet Access, though.

I have a related question that sounds like blasphemy to this thread... but anyways:

How do I get rid of MSN messenger? My sis once downloaded it just to chat for a day when we swapped computers, but it still shows up on the taskbar even after it is uninstalled.

Oh yeah if you haven't figured it out, I don't use MSN.

Heh, you can't. It downloads itself to your hard drive  .

To remove the taskbar icon, you should be able to simply delete the shortcut the same way you'd do any other. If you click the shortcut, does the program still load up?

Blog to remove MSN you need to disinfect your computer, try SuSE Linux or the new Sun Linux coming out soon.
