Well I am making a new mod for ToB and I wanted your input on some things in the mod! The mod is for mages and bards, so don't ask for anything their class can't use! (except for the plate mail)

    Weapons:
    1. Daggers
    2. Slings
    3. Staves
    How many of above?
    • 1
    • 2
    • 3
    Armor/Protection:
    • Plate Mail/Cloak/Gauntlets/Helm
    • Mage Robe/Helm/Cloak/Ring
    • Overpowered Ring/Overpowered Cloak/Overpowered Helm
    • None
(the plate mail does not disable spells)

How should the Items be added to the game?
    1. Everything bought from Sister G. (Watchers Keep)
    2. Some things bougt from Sister G., the rest looted after a random encounter with powerful spell casters (if you win)
    3. As gifts from thir orginal owner Kitrax, this would include a cut sceen
    4. Just lying arond in various locations
(#2 would include a new area, new lines of dilog, and mabye one new monster)
(#3 would include a cut sceen where Kitrax's ghost talks with you and gives you the items to help you on your quest if you are Good/neutral aligned, or attacks if you are Evil.)

    Anything Else?:rolling:

[IMG] Whatever items you create, let them being carried by high level adventurer party in a building (like the Guarded Compound). A battle between two almost similar parties would be very difficult and don't forget to make a good-evil option.

For example, when only one remains from the party he'll tell you:
"I'll give you 5,000 gp and my sword if you leave."

If you agree you take 5,000gp and a sword.
If you kill him, who knows ;)

#2) A lot of people really miss the BG1 outdoor area's, so you could try to use one of the BG1 area's.

[IMG] You could include darts. Make it "returns to thrower" like that dart from WK, that way it can have some other special ability.

If you don't like to put the items on one of the members of a powerful enemy party there are other options that still uses a powerful enemy party.
    - Map in one piece or in several pieces found on enemy party.
    - Weapon is an artifact and it's different pieces are usable separately and it's also possible to reconstruct the artifact when you have all the pieces.

My suggestion would be to vary the way you get different items...

    1. I like the idea of another ememy encounter.

    2. I also like the idea of one or two (don't make her give you an entirly new inventory, that doesn't seem right.) items coming from an old friend of the character.

    3. This I would leave up to you. (you could leave a few surprizes around in numerous places.) :D

Now to the weapons and armour. I think that the items should be balanced. :)

You could make some of the armours creat the weapons, (darts and throwing knives) kinda like the cloak of the stars.

Uh, that's all I have... for now. :p

[IMG] Well, its been decided...Here is what is going to happen:

Kitrax's ghost will aproch you(after a short cutsceen) and give you some advise as well as some items(if you are good/ neutral) or lecture you, then attacks(if you are evil). The 6 items you get depend on you class. (i.e. Fighters, Clerics, Theives, Druids, Bards, Rangers, Mages, and Paladins all get different items)
Thats right, I am making over 48 items just because I'm so nice! ;)

After your little encounter with my ghost, you will be able to see Sister G.'s "better" inventory(for a price) in which you will be able to buy some more items.

Possibly...just maybe, one of the items you buy will trigger an encounter where a group of fighters/clerics/mages try to take back *their* item.

Let me know what you think....if you all think it really sucks, then I might change it...maybe add some more stuff to it. :p

In that case, maybe if you killed the ghost, he'd give up his inventory?

If you are evil, then he will attack, after you kill him, you can loot the items off his corpse.

You don't get as much EXP from killing him as you do when you talk with him, so thats a downside if your evil.

Here is what I have so far:(most are not finished)
Mage: Mage robe, dagger, cloak, ring, helm, and bracers.

Ranger: Chain mail, long bow, bracers, helm, cloak, and a belt

Fighter: Full plate armor, long sword, helm, bracers, shield, and a cloak

Paladin: Plate mail armor, two handed long sword, helm, bracers, belt, and a ring

Cleric: Chain mail, mace, bracers, cloak, amulet, and a belt

Theif: Studded leather, short sword, swort bow, bracers, cloak, and a ring

Druid: leather armor, some kind of sword, cloak, helm, bracers, and a ring

Bard: chain mail, bracers, some kind of weapon, cloak, loun stone, ring

If you don't like what you see, tell me. Also, what kind of weapon shoul the Bard get? :rolling:

    Bah, be original!

Mage: big meanie two-handed sword with Tenser's transformation when equipped, bracers of shocking grasp / ghoul touch, runic plate mail (with daily protection contigencies), etc...

Ranger: horn of winter wolves summonning

Bard: cloak of blurring, Robe of mirror image (casts mirror image if wearer takes a hit), sword of allurement (does 0 damage, but casts dire charm upon succesful hit), and various musical instruments

Paladin; dagger of sacrifice (auto-hit and auto-kill target with no save allowed... but paladin also dies in the process. Consider permanent death).

    etc... ;)

Bah, then a staff that can turn into said sword, like the Rod of Smiting. ;)

Also you could try balancing your item properties. Simple examples:
    - Ring of Involvement: caster can memorize two additional spells per level but takes 2 hit points damage / spell level when casting a spell.
    - Belt of Frost Circle: constant Fire Shield (blue) when equipped, but wearer gets -50% fire resistance.

    and so on...

lol, I don't think that's balanced. I wouldn't even want to wear those items, but you probably meant it as simple examples how to balance items, not as items he should make

Why not platemail for the cleric? That chainmail would have to either be incredibly overpowered or heavily enchanted to make anyone choose it over the gamut of platemail in the game. Same applies to ranger. Make the druid sword a scimitar. Mages can't use helms, so going to have to make that an Ioun Stone. I'd also like to see a sword for a ranger if need be, as many people don't use them purely for ranged attacks.

All cleric kits can use platemail. Beastmasters and standard rangers can use platemail. Stalkers and archers can only use studded leather armor.
