Which do you prefer for contacting people, the phone or an internet-based messenger?

Depends who it is, and what I'm contacting them about, really. But I probably use phone more so *shrugs slightly* phone it is.

 

I like AIM, the phone is just used for formalities really.

Only contact people I met on the net with messenger, so I'm not going to be phoning them!

You can tell sarcasm etc better aswell. Yeah, phone.

 

Messenger. I don't particularly like phones, I have difficulty hearing people sometimes and at least on a messenger it's more obvious if someone is sarcastic or not.

 

Messenger. I hate phoning people. Never do it if I don't have to.

I try to avoid chat and messengers. Sometimes I chat, but I never use the messenger. On the phone I can walk through the house and check things if I like. With the messenger, I'm in front of a monitor and I don't want that. Not that long anyway.

 

It really depends. If its urgent, I'll use the phone, otherwise I just use MSN messenger.

 

Phone with the local yocals, but messenger to all those in different countries. So I put phone.

 

It depends on whether or not you count e-mail as an internet based messanger. No one that I know and would want to contact uses a true messanger program so I have no use for them. We generally tend to communicate by e-mail which I do prefer greatly over telephone.

 

Local calls are phone, occasionally ill organize something through MSN, but i hardly use it, so i went for phone.

 

Phone. None of my friends use the computer enough for any sort of messenger. It's enough trouble getting them to check their emails.

 

I rarely use the phone, and I only use IM at work. I almost never communicate with my friends via IM, only coworkers, so I'd have to go with phone here. I usually rely on plain ol email to keep up with friends though.

 

chose phone cause that's about the only time that I actually talk to people. I'm not counting the BoM as an IM.

 

I only have actual phone numbers on two of my contacts, with a third one moving home soon, so I prefer Messenger services like MSN or Yahoo.

 

It seems that all the people that I need or want to talk to are never online at the same time as me, and when they are, we have nothing to talk about...so phone it is for me.

 

Messenger. Easier to be overheard on the phone, and I *HATE* that.

Well it depends. Phone is better for instant contact, in an emergency etc but messenger is best for long conversations. Also you can say things on messenger you'd be too embarassed to say on the phone
