I'm referring to the standard "Long Sword +1," or "Bastard Sword +3" or whatever. Why use them, when so many other more interesting weapons are available in the game?

Choose 2 if more than one applies, but stick to the choice that fits your typical MO.

    - Yes, but only in the beginning when there's nothing else.

    - Yes, but only when fighting creatures requiring a plus to hit.

For reasons I hope are obvious :D

I checked the one where it says, to the effect "Only in the beginning when there are not any other enchanted weapons" and missle weapons only. Not only the ones that are not "vanilla" more powerful, but they also have their own, unique history and specialization (it would seem) for a certain character type or types. I still appreciate the "vanilla" weapons, enchanted or not though.

Cutthroat is a standard short sword +4 with just a fancy name... my thief always uses it. I like this sword so much that I often hack for it with SK to get it much earlier in the game.

I'm guessing somebody here uses those spear +3 's that you always find lying around. I don't myself, but they're pretty good until you upgrade to the spear of withering.

I use "vanilla" armour much more than weapons though. Oh yeah, I take them for their market value too.

One day I'm gonna play a game with "vanilla" only weapons. ;)

I picked “Yes, but only in the beginning when there's nothing else”
I decided not to pick “No, I just hock them for cash. Might as well be gems”; I do this, but again only in the beginning when they’re worth a fair amount relative to how much gold you have. Later on, when you have a lot of gold, there's not much point.

Just for reference, this poll refers to enchanted weapons with no cool name and no back story. Oven though there are items (like Cutthroat) that don't have extra abilities, they still don't count as "vanilla." They have a back story and funky image file, which makes them unique.

It doesnt really make sense to use a vanilla +x weapon, when you can use another weapon with the same to-hit enchantment, and other added effects, which might be combat abilities or equipped abilities. Hence, I don't think people would really use vanilla enchanted weapons, unless they had no choice...

I checked the 'only in the beginning' and 'enchanted arrows' boxes and I also wanted the 'pick them up for money' option, but I could only check two.
For me it doesn't really make sense to use them when you have unique weapons with the same enchantment that are cooler and have more enchantments.
The only vanilla weapons I use later in the game are not enchanted to get around PfMW.
