Now that "Spam" (an unsolicited often commercial message transmitted through the internet...) has become officially a part of the English Dictionary, I am concerned that the true, original meaning of spam will be lost to the next generation. Do you know what real Spam is?

In Canada (and maybe elsewhere), we have (or had) something called Klik (sp?), which I think is somewhat similar. Haven't had it in a long time, and have no desire to become re-acquainted with it.

Rumor has it began with an old "Monty Python" skit where you always were served spam no matter what you ordered.

    Probably an urban legend, though.

For that 7% of you who really don't know what Spam is, or anyone else with massive time to waste, you might want to visit The Spam Museum!. No pushing, no shoving, listen to the tour guide...or you don't get the free samples :D .

[IMG] Spam was originally a form of military ration that American soldiers ate while liberating France from Nazi Germany. Many of the soldiers acquired a taste for the "meat" and Hormel starting selling it after the war.

I think scam-mail got the term "spam", because spam is something that no one wants. Monty Python helped too! :)

    *Ahem*

The correct words to the song, are in fact; "spam spam spam spam spam spam spam spam, wonderful spam, fantastic spam."

    Oooh, that's not a cupboard, it's a fire-station. That's why the door was red!

(I know, techically not monty python, but written and performed by the same).

    ugg... SPAM.

There's only three things that will survive a nuclear holocaust. Cockroaches, SPAM, and Keith Richards.
