This must be the ultimate poll. Which one do you prefer, Star Wars or Star Trek? And don't say 'both equally', because there is always one you like more.

For me it is Star Trek all the way.

When I was a wee lad back in the early eighties I saw a movie that had some guys in space with these things coming out of their ears and noses. It caught my attention, but never enough to investigate the matter more. I also saw a movie with a guy in a black suit in a swordfight with another guy in a dark room with a black hooded man cackling in the background. We won't even get into the fat slug crimelord and the ewoks.

Well, when it came down to it, one captured my attention a whole lot more than the other. And it's been that way ever since. Another thing is I'm not that big on TV shows. I've tried to sit down and watch a show of Star Trek, but it's just not exciting enough.

My vote goes to Star Wars. :tie:

    [IMG] Star Trek man!

George Lucas ruined it for me with the 1st prequel. Yes I will also see the 6th movie (or is it the 3rd) and the last was GOOD, but still. When I want to see sword fighting and clone wars I will go see LOTR.

But the :borg: and :alien: and other :1eye: in our very own galaxy ROCK.

I'm with you, Shrikanth. Phantom Menace was so bad that I won't even RENT Clone Wars, and I don't bloody care what comes next. It was an example of money-grubbing opportunism spoiling a classic of entertainment along the lines of commissioning "Scarlett" as a sequel to "Gone With The Wind."

Most of the Trek movies suck, true, but TV was Roddenberry's natural medium anyway.

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of chevvy's coffee - Star Wars all the way.

For me, Trek wins because of Patrick Stewart alone. Btw, the last Trek movie was pretty good. Very spectacular, if nothing else.

Star Trek rules. Perird. Even though I have only seen about 7 and a half episodes, most of them Voyager with a few TNG and one DS9, and the latest movie, I am a Trekkie. Or at least that's what Mum says. But when you know A) some Klingon (tlhaqwlj chu'Ha'lu'pu), B) B'Elanna's Acadimy nickname (BLT, BaconLetteceTomato), and C) Janeway's dress size (4), I'd say that you're a Trekkie :D

    Hard to pick one.

Star Trek = series from which films were made.

Star Wars = movies from which crappy series were made.

    Overall I'd say Trek.

I really like Star Wars, but the most recent movie was ehhhh.... ok. Phantom Menace, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and A New Hope were better. The last three listed were the best. :tie: (I HAD to use that)

Star Trek has gone down the same path, the new season Enterprise is not as good as the others. I think, at least. Ever since I was old enough to appreciate the show, I've liked it though. :borg: (another great Graemlin that I've always wanted to use but never had reason to...)

Oh god not again :) Last time, on another forum we had a iirc 19 page long thread on which would win in a StarTrek vs StarWars battle. I must say, that was the nerdiest thread EVER!

I must say that lately, StarWars has been gaining ground (not sure why), but StarTrek is still the show I grew up with. I can still watch it with a good feeling of nostalgia, while with StarWars, I need a lot more imagination to compensate for Lucas's fword-ups.

Star Trek, all the way. The only thing that comes from Star Wars are horrible books.

Star Wars, the Prequels suck, but the Trilogy is just überly brilliant.

[IMG] I watched every episode of every show of Star Trek, some more than once. Amazing show. My mind is with Star Trek but my heart is with the star wars universe and the old Starwars movies. I think they both want it that way :)

Anyway, on discarding Star wars because of the new poor movies. Should I begin to rant about all the poor Star Trek material out there? I won't even bother scrolling up to look who it was. *sigh* Fuzzy logic, huh?

Sure there's a lot of poor StarTrek material out there *cough VOYAGER cough* but let's be honest, the old StarWars movies aren't that much better than the new. The old ones were great because you grew up with them. Truth be told, the original three movies had worse acting than episode one and two combined ;)

It's a matter of opinion, and thus not everyone will agree. Meh, that's the way of things.
