The Panthers don't seem to have much support yet. The non-watchers seem to be winning at the moment.

Maybe the "Super"-bowl isn't the exciting world-wide sporting event it's cracked up to be.

You mean a sports event in which teams from only one country participate isn't popular abroad?! Madness!

But despite my dislike for the game, I had to vote for the Patriots. I figure if any team is going to win, it's going to be the one with England in its name.

Well, if I would be completely honest I should pick option number three. I really couldnt care less about American football. However since I was in Charlotte last summer and read about the Panthers and such I am going to watch it and root for them. I also like how they have managed to overcome everyone expectations. I dont know sh*t about it really though.

Well, purely in the interest of adding to my post count :p , I'll say this: In any game where I don't give a rat's ass who wins (such as this one), I always cheer for the underdog. So who is that this time, exactly? :hmm:

Carolina Panthers are the underdogs. If they win, they will be the first WildCard team to win a Super Bowl :)

Well, because the Australian Open is all but done, the Super 12 and Six Nations rugby hasn't started yet, and there's only one international cricket match going on in the world right now - I suppose my sporting attention span might just have some space available in it to care about what happens in the Super Bowl.

I suppose that means that I would be supporting the Panthers because it looks like they are underdogs and because I have passed through North Carolina once (and I've never been to New England).

Well, since this season, there is no media footage of American Football here anymore, except for Pay TV.
Even the Super Bowl won't be broadcasted. Not that it will be any interesting, the two teams are rather dull IMHO.

I have managed to find a few small articles about it in the paper this morning. It certainly won't be on any TV channel that I have acces to.

Blasted Patriots! What kind of lame ass nudge coward boring team are they? It was the Panthers who stood for the good entertaining American Football! That Muhammed guy was awesome. I think I might be able to get into this sport, if it wasnt for the 5 minutes of commercials for every minute of game time. Four and a half hours on air for less than an hour of gameplay is a tad too much. I also wonder why they had gone through such effort to drudge up the absolute worst the american entertainment scene has to offer for the halftime show.

Yes! American Football does seem to be designed completely around TV with so many breaks. That's why I prefer watching the highlights packages. Then you can see all the great plays (which are usually pretty spectacular) without having to endure all the bumscratching that goes on in between.

I'm a big college football fan. A typical college game is 3 to 3 1/2 hours long barring OT. A typical pro game, from my more limited experience, is shorter than a college game because the clock doesn't stop with a first down. So, the commercial laden extravaganza known as the superbowl is atypical of football.
