Ok, I finally watched T3: The Rise of the Machines and I thought it was pretty good.

My question is: do you think they should make a Terminator 4?

For those of you who haven't seen it, T3 finishes telling the story up to the point of "Judgment Day"...but if John Connor is the one who is responsible for ending the war, don't you think there should be one last movie that tells how John built an army, fell in love with what's her name, gets married, fights the war, and wins? I personally felt that "they" owe us one more movie...it's like when someone says, "Oh, I have something to tell you...but I can't."

    What do you think?

I haven't seen T3, and I probably wont for a LONG time. Very long time.

In answer to that, i dont believe that we are owed any more Arny movies.

Terminator 1 was reasonable, Terminator 2 was interminable and terminator 3 ridiculous. Terminator 4 will turn it into the type of Friday the 13th and Rocky Jaws garbage we had chucked at us before. It should just be terminated. So no is the answer.

This is just something I can't understand. Many people think T3 had an open ending and T4 is bound to be coming in the future. Why?

I mean, if you look at the style in T1 & 2. And consider the plot as it's presented in T3, there's nothing more apparent than that T3 was supposed to be the last movie in the Terminator saga. At least the last movie involving John Connor's life as a savior.

There's nothing more to be said, everyone knows what will follow after the ending of T3. There is no more future to be stopped, no more terminators to be sent into the past to prevent Connor from ever becoming a leader. Even financially speaking, as just the few machine war shots in T2 and T3 were so expensive, there's no way they can find the cash to make a T4 (let alone, as already said, make the obvious plot interesting).

From what I hear, they won't ever make a T4. The rights to the license were split equally between the studio and James Cameron. Cameron gave his part of the license to his wife as a part of their divorce settlement. When they wanted to make T3, the studio was overjoyed (not surprisingly) but Cameron's ex was not so thrilled. She eventually gave them permission to make T3, but only on the explicit condition that there would never be a T4. So no, I don't think there will ever be a fourth installment.

    I'm hopeing they don't make a T4.
I liked the first two when I was about 12 but I've long grewn out of them. The third one I found rediculas for many many reasons. I think the fouth one would just get worse.

I LOVE the Terminator series. I don't care how ridiculous the plot has to get, I want more movies. More, more, more. Preferably soon, before Arnold Schwarzennegger gets wrinkly or becomes President.

I liked all three. Only the first one was a 'classic' movie but they were all way, way above average for the science-fiction/action movie genre. T3 may not have been T1, but it wasn't Universal Soldier either.

The only thing I found hard to deal with in T3 was the absence of Sarah. I can't believe they got rid of the main character! But the fact that the storyline worked that well shifting from Sarah to John tells me that they could do a good job telling the story of his war in another couple of installments. They've already stopped telling Sarah's story anyway, so a whole new set of movies telling John's story seems perfectly plausible to me.

Come now, of course not, they clearly ended the series in T3, unless they're planning to show the end of the war, some time after Connor's death. There is no other possible precedent for it.

T1 was good. T2 was very good. T3 was...average at best. Weak plot, terrible acting, unfunny lines and ridiculous concepts. Why is the TX so much weaker and less menacing compared to the T1000?

I hate those corny lines they always use!
    "You are terminated"
    And other lines like those!

...Just another reason why I hope they don't make another one.

    No more Terminator movies PLEASE!!

    1st was good
    2nd was great
    3rd was ridiculous
    4rt will be a disaster

Come on! There is no way T4 can ever be any good.
The minimum requirement would be a whole new cast. Arnie can no longer be a T101, too old. The lead pair suck.
The studio effectively made sure that T4 can never be made. Maybe T101 with some new people (Diesel?) taking the story forward. No T4.

    T3 was terrible!

Nothing was original in this film and the storyline was rather predictable.

You know just because you have grown up and don't like to bang your Heman and teenage mutant ninja turtle dolls into shcredder or what those children toys are called, doesn't make T3 awfull next to the other ones. Geesh, people, try using a little common sense Vs. your age...

I didn't like T3 as much as 1 and 2, so if they're going to make another movie, I don't know. In my opinion the Terminators went from very cool (T1  ) to cool (T2) to...well not very cool. So I'm afraid they won't come up with a new, ass-kicking Terminator. And if they don't do that, they might as well not make the movie at al.

And why does everybody like T2 better than T1?

I liked T3 well enough. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending, and that alone makes it worth it to me. Of course it has it's downpoints. At times, it was ridiculous (the boobjob, the glasses) but hey, what did you expect? As for a T4, I'm not sure. While I'd love to see a massive melee between machine and man, it just wouldn't be a terminator movie, just one shot in it's setting.

Faragon, I don't share your critique of the boob enlargement scene. For sci-fi action movies, the Terminator series are pretty dismal in the blouse bunny department. Nice to see the new director remembered the fine old literary tradition of gratuitous hooters in science fiction. :D

I'm surprised most people here seem to like T2 best. In my opinion T1 is the best of the lot, it's the only one that's a true classic. The others are just good action movies, a shade smarter and more chic than the genre standard, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Personally, I think the first was the best, it was so groundbreaking for its time.
BTW, I saw part of a press conference on the news a short while ago and it had about 2 seconds of a particular answer Ahnuld gave in which all you could hear was him saying something to the effect of "Will this be my last Termintor? No"
Now granted, it probably would have helped to see the few minutes either side of this comment to fully understand the context, but doesn't that sound like there will be a 4th?

While I appreciate T1 for what it is, the first one where it all begun, I still think T2 is better.

No offense meant, no fingers pointed, and what I say only applies to majority, which undoubtedly means that no-one reading this will find themselves accused. But I would classify most T1 fans as elitists that simply like it for it is older than T1, and less liked by masses (I'm surprisingly often guilty of this myself). The actors, the story, the soundtrack, the visuals, and the general feeling is far better in T2 than in T1. It's not just a brainless action film, it has everything T1 did, only more, and of better quality. T1 is not bad, not at all, but T2 is clearly an upgrade from it still. The only good thing about T1 was that Schwarzenegger was a bad guy in it, and as a terminator he was far more cruel and inhuman than any terminators have been in the sequels. While that feature adds to much, alone it isn't enough to cover for all other good things in T2.
