I was awakened this morning with the awful stench of burnt and blackened toast. So, I got to thinking, (using up most of that free think time in the bathroom) how many others enjoy a good piece of charcoal bricquet-I mean toast in the A.M. hours? You may substitute a bagel or muffin or crumpet instead of toast.

I always immediately butter my toast so that it melts in and softens it slightly.

 

Huuum since I don't do brakefast and like my bread unaltered I don't eat toast. Eating is such a waste of time...

 

Tanned although I don't mind if it's little brown. I just hate eating burnt piece of coal.

 

I often forget to eat, but I like any kind of bread, so long as my toast is not burnt so no amount of scraping can remove the black stuff.

 

Never been much of a toast fan myself..

 

When I have toast I like it tanned, however I tend to switch breakfasts every few weeks.

I like it burnt and pressurized untill it's a diamond. Nah, I like it pretty tanned, almost dark brown. But alas, I dont eat white bread any more, so I voted "Bread? Do you know how many carbs are in it?"

 

I like it pale. White around the edges and mostly uncooked in the middle.

Nicely warm & crisp so it melts the butter, but still bread-like on the inside.

 

I'm a beigy girl myself. A little browness to add color, then slap on some margarine to soften and PB if I'm in the mood. Or blackberry jelly. *drool*

I was wondering if it was an English thing to eat burnt toast. Dad-in-law (before his wife insisted on Atkins' low-carb diet) would eat that lumpy coal with jam. *shudder* I don't know how he gets by sneaking a piece nowadays considering the stench it causes.

 

I like it tanned, but since my own home-made marmalade ran out I haven't eaten toast every morning for a while.

This morning I ate porridge with some own home-made apple jam.

The marmalade was made primarily out of apples as well.

I was like a little neurotic squirrel with those apples for a while this autumn...

 

Golden brown for me. But then, I almost exclusively eat 100% whole wheat bread, so "golden brown" is a little tough to achieve. If there's a toast scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is not toasted and 10 is a charred meteor, I think I'm about a 4.

Used to like it burnt, but I no longer like it like that. It must be tanned but cheese shouldn't be solid inside or bread too dry.

 

Just a little heads-up for all of you who like it burnt to a crisp: when you burn something, the burnt material is very unhealthy for you. It has something to do with oxidization, and I've even heard rumors of some burnt material containing carcinogens. So look out!

 

I usually just have bread but when I do have toast I generally have it so that it is barely toasted - basically slightly off white with some degree of increased rigidity. The only reasons I ever have toast is for chicken-ala-king or dipping in egg yolks.
