SoA story-wise, ToB seems to rushed.. although having both installed is a must! Gotta love HLA's and the Watchers Keep!

I prefer the SOA content although the engine improvements from TOB do make it more enjoyable. TOB is too linear and the characters and items start getting too uber-powerful for my liking.

I have yet to play ToB since I just started BG1 and my goal is to bring that character over into SoA and ToB. But my guess is that SoA is a better game since it leads up to ToB.

SoA is much better, but the engine improvements from ToB can't be missed. And somehow I always end up playing through it anyway just to get to the end. :nolike:

ToB just plain could have used more to it. After a certain point you just attack home base after home base with somebody conveniently popping up to tell you where they are at and little to do on the side.

And a few of the items are gotten so late it's kind of like "why bother?"

I only find use for some of them if I import them into a new game.

I voted SoA simply because there was no choice for combined. To me ToB is simply the wrap up the adventure and I like the mechanics. Also, it is rather fun to get godlike abilities and the choice of to be or not to be a god. However I would not care for ToB by itself. IMO you can play SoA without playing BG original but you can't play ToB without playing SoA. But that is just my opinion.

Chalk up another for "SoA... But with ToB installed". The bug fixes and Wild Mage are cool additions, but the best thing is the TAB key. How insanely useful is that? It really makes going back to the relentless "trashing" in BG1 seem like a trip back to the Dark Ages.

    Well...

While SoA is about 400% longer than ToB, I still think ToB takes the cake. It has a better look to it, HLAs, more powerfull enemies, it has Watcher's Keep, and it has Sarevok as a joinable NPC! :rolling:

I voted SoA because it is longer, has a better storyline and is, I find, more immersive. ToB was way too short. :)
Anywho, ToB is still good. Especially a certain eunuch mini-dragon in the Pocket Plane. :) Hooray for Cespenar!

SOA has a better story, it's longer and more balanced. More satisfying roleplay-wise.

Hey, just because an imp has a high-pitched voice doesn't mean he's a eunich... Isn't he more ballsy than Anomen and Keldorn combined? :D

    /me dodges
