I am curious as to what you fellows think of using web in tandem with aoe damage spells? I am not talking about from out of their line of sight though because that is very lame, but you can do it plain view with the ring of free action (one of my favorite items). So do you think thats lame?

If you do not consider that lame how about Spell Sequencer: Web, Web, Web, then Cloudkill, Greater Malison, Fireball, Fireball, Fireball ? This is how I kill beholders (with my solo sorcerer). Do you consider me a lame SOB? Or do you use these tactics also?

Not really; if the web works, congrats of a clever move -it's done by the AD&D rules and like the game-makers have intended. Nothing lame there.

Besides, at normal difficulty you do not even need anything beside two good sword-arms and four magic-users to make it a walk in the park. :D

Solo Sorcs need to be super-geniuses with any and all spells that keep those retarded brutes from pumelling said sorcerers into a pile of goo...that being said, nicely done mate! :)

No, it's not lame. As long as you don't do it out of sight it's okay. Why shouldn't a sorc/mage use what spells are available.

Surely it's the same as - hold person, MM, MM, MM, MM, MM, etc. What about timestop or simulucrum? These are all legitimate spells so use them.

It's only cheesy when you plan for specific encounters that your PC couldn't have known about in advance.

Thanks Faraaz. Neat, I don't like to use tactics that are lame because they make things too easy, but I die enough with my sorcerer to not feel guilty about using this if nobody considers it cheap.

I don't see how a sorcerer using those spells could be considered lame unless they were exploiting a bug or the game engine. Using area effect spells seems fair to me.

Yeah but just sometimes using GM + web can make fights so easy I think maybe I am being lame but the consensus seems to be otherwise. :)
