Pop-ups removed from boards and front page for now

    Remove all ads!
    [​IMG] Just in case you haven't noticed, some time ago I removed the pop-ups from the front page, and yesterday from the boards as well. I was hoping to get rid of the problem earlier with the new design, but since that isn't going up tomorrow yet, I decided on this step for the present. Until I have time to go looking for another decent pop-up advertiser, the front page and the boards will have no pop-ups.

    This, of course, means a drop in the SP funds which are used to pay the server bills every month, so any help in the way of donations would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

    Taluntain, here's a hint: make an advertising gateway. They're not nearly as annoying as pop-ups, and cannot be blocked as easily. If you put a link that allows to skip the ad, that's the way to go -especially since pop-up blocking will be default in IE soon. ;)

    Also, ad-gateways should be more profitable.

    I don't serve my own popups. Like the majority of other sites, the popups on SP are served by an advertising provider who also delivers the code via which they should be displayed.

    Popups might be dropped altogether on SP in the future, if I can get any decent advertising for the new ad space which will be available in the new design.

    It is a good thing for me because I have XP, and when popoups come up and get minimized automatically in a huge pile of IE files it gets very annoying. Plus, i was tired of deciding which Charlie's Angel was the prettiest, they are all so hot!
