Portable Mini party

    [​IMG] I was thinking about playing as a halfling or a dwarf and playing the game with all the pint sized characters, namely korgan, mazzy and that other one I forgot the name of, and I was looking for ideas of what class and race to play.

    Korgan and Mazzy are quite good in tanking, and I think Jan could take care of thieving, maybe also spellslinging. You could always use potions to heal yourself, but I think a cleric or such would be good. Make it a dwarf and there you got yourself a third tank. Mazzy could then take care of ranged weaponry. I don't think there are any more small NPC's than those mentioned above, so you might have a hard time beating the game with this kind of vertically challenged party. :) Maybe you could take Aerie along. She would fit in perfectly, if you consider her a small one (since she is an elf, but then again she isn't). If you decide to take her, your protagonist could be something else than a healer. I would make him an halfling assassin.

    That's vertically challenged not physical ;)

    I'm not sure about this but can't Dwarf's Be a F/C multi? I'd check myself but I'm doing some rotine maintenance scans and **** which on my pc takes FOREVER.

    I should probably take one or two custom NPC's but I have never used any of the vertically challanged characters apart from the NPC one's and there's no point having more then one of each so I'm open to any advice :)

    Sounds fun.

    Personally, I would say Dwarf Cleric or Fighter/Cleric is probably best as you will need to have some healing. F/C might make your party a bit more robust, but Korgan is a superb tank on his own and Mazzy is one of the best fighters in the game and definitely the best archer. Jan provides all your thieving and magic power, so you should be okay there.

    You could try a Gnome F/I, but you will be seriously lacking on the cleric side. Another good option is a Gnome Cleric/Illusionist, then you will have a cleric and second mage which will come in very handy in the later stages of SOA and TOB.

    The party of 4, shouldn't have any major problems as you will level-up quicker than a party of six, plus you will find it easier to distribute all the equipment around.

    Neat idea.

    Yes, it is a party of four: Mazzy, Jan, Korgan and the main character. I don't believe Aerie counts - especially seeing her in-game figure is full hieght like, for example, Jaheira.

    Korgan and Mazzy are both fighters, so I'd avoid the fighter/cleric suggestions - you'll just be fightered-out. I like the gnome illusionist/cleric idea the best, more spell power, but still with some healing. The other option is pure dwarf cleric.

    I'm already playing with a party of four with aerie in it and she levels up too slow to make a good healer, how good are pure Dwarf Clerics at fighting?

    Not too bad.

    Hitpoints are 8HP + 2 CON (max) per level, this isn't as good as a fighters but not too shabby either.

    THAC0 decreases by 2 every 3 rounds. Again, not as good as a fighters but better than a thief and a mage.

    but you will also be levelling up quicker which will keep improving your THAC0 quickly. You also have some cool spells, like 'Draw Upon Holy Might' which will help reduce your THAC0 (if you str increases). Plus at L25 you get the holy symbol which boosts str to help THAC0 again.

    1 attack per round is the real limiting factor. But there are ways to haste yourself, so these can be addressed easily.

    Take a cleric kit for some extra benefits. I'd go for Talos (evil) as this is better.

    Polymorph: squirrel/hamster/toad/slug on Edwin, or even better Sarevok ;) :D


    BTW... you can always make custom PCs. They're mute though :(
