[IMG] I have a problem. My CD doesn't work! I installed it, full game install. Then, when I tried to start the game there pops up an error message labeled "Software Protection Error". In the message it says "Please insert the original CD-ROM in drive". What I get out of this is that the game thinks my game is a piratecopy, which it is NOT! Can anyone help with this? The funny thing is, a friend of mine has pirated it(downloaded from a ftp-server) and it works for him, while it doesn't work for me, who bought the damned game! :( Why, why, why, why!?!? Please help me.

[IMG] What the hell(excuse the language...) do you mean!? I bought the damn game, though the game thinks I pirated it. As I said in my former post, I bought it(didn't work), while my friend burned it(did work). Now he's, of course, laughing at me for using money on the game. Can anyone be a bit more helpful than this guy? And to make myself clear, IT IS ORIGINAL! There....
So, can anyone help me with my problem?

then i believe the best option is to go back to the shop you bought it from and ask for a change... its in the warranty i think.. go read it.. say ur CD is faulty...

Are you in Europe? There is a known issue regarding your problem with the European version and certain CD and DVD drives. Apparently you just need to install the ToB BETA patch version 26464. For more details look here: http://www.bioware.com/bgate2/bg2issues.shtml

[IMG] It is illegal so I don't recommend it but I think but there are 'no CD' cracks on the net. Hey, after all you did pay for the game and you did a full install so they could just stop bugging you bout those CDs. Pirates will get their hands on any program anyway - your friend is the best example.

[IMG] Well, it's solved. It was a known issue and it was corrected in the latest patch. So now I'm able to play :)

Of course they do something....they fix various bugs(like mine...) and fix other errors or imbalances in the game.

I'm a bit confused. I got that whenever I was trying to run TOB with the SOA discs in, but changing to the TOB disc works fine - Only problem being that you could need 2 disc changes. TOB for the main menu. Change to SOA disc2 for SOA. Change to disc 3 or 4 for your area. But this is something different?

I noticed you can play a lot of ToB using BG2 cd 2.

Rekesalat (shrimp salad) :) - I'm having exactly the same trouble as you with the ToB cd I bought today. I guess by your screen name that you're probably Norwegian like me, so it seems to be an issue with the cd's sold here in Norway at least. I have not tried the patch yet - found your post while looking for help after spending several hours installing, reinstalling and cursing over the stupid game that wouldn't recognize my original cd.

Did everything work smoothly after installing the patch? Are there still any problems? Do I need a full install of SoA, or is a recommended install good enough?

You guessed right, I am norwegian. And yes, after you install the patch everything will work smoothly. It was a problem with the european version of the game.

Both the SoA disc 2 and the ToB disc can be used to play through all of SoA and ToB if you have a full install

I think cause it works for me :)
