I wanted to replay this game so I installed it on my new computer running Windows XP. When I ran the game it shows the splash screen for a moment and then closes itself with out any error message. I have no idea why it won't run. It works fine on my old computer using Windows XP.

    Any help please.

    Hi there,

I came to this place because I had exactly the same problem. I found a solution, so that I could at least start the game: I had to turn off the graphics hardware acceleration.

In case you are not familiar how to do this:

    1. Open XP-Startmenu and click on 'Run'
    2. Type in: dxdiag.exe --> The DirectX Diagnostic Tool should appear
    3. Open the 'Display'-Tab.
    4. Disable DirectDraw Acceleration by clicking on the 'Enabled' button. Confirm the question asked. This disables all hardware accceleration functions of the graphics card. You don't need to close the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window btw.
    5. Start PoR2.
    6. After you exit the game, don't forget to enable hardware acceleration again.
If you experience 'sound stutter' try reducing the 'hardware sound acceleration level'. You can do this also in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool by clicking on the 'Sound'-Tab. There is a slider called 'Hardware Sound Acceleration Level'. By default it should be on the far right and it should read 'Full acceleration'. Try adjusting the slider to 'standard' or 'minimum' acceleration.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,
    Naestor
