Problem with Jaheira Romance.

    When Meronia appears and takes Jaheira with her after successfully defeating the bandits, Jaheira never returns. I have rested for days either in D'Arnise Keep or in Trademeet or Umar Hills and the cute half-elf never comes back. The Montaron-Xzar quest is done, no looping things or any other abnormalities until the summoning of Jaheira in the Harper's Hold.I have SoA+TOB and the latest patch installed plus all the WeiMer Mods, Tashia and Kelsey.Any help is highly welcomed,

    [​IMG] I had a simular problem with Anomen and edwin

    What I think happens is that when they spawn you are either moving between areas of in a dialog (or a simular circumstance) the people don't appear and you can't continue - you can try summoning them or if they are there talk to them. I had the problem where the messenger for anomen wouldn't come - I spoke to anomen and he kept saying - Hold someone approaches, his appearence is familar to me. With Edwin the mage turned him back to a man and Viconia started talking to him about the rumurs about thayvian men, Viconia just can't wait can she?

    So try creating Jaheira and setting the romance globals appropriatly

    Thanks for your reply 8people.
    I have discussed this problem thoroughly the last 2 days also in the Black Isle+Bioware forums and i have decided to unistall everything keep my savegames and start again with a new installation of Soa+ToB. I want also to play the tortured souls mod and the timing couldn't be better!
    The truth be said over the last 3 years of continuous playing the BGII saga even i cannot remember all the mods that i have installed so now is the time for a new beginning!

    How it warms my spirit to finally find someone who agrees with me that Jaheira is one beautiful girl to drool over.

    Question: Do you download an improved romance file for Jaheira? The original programming for the romance is riddled with problems, but this is the first time I've heard of something like that happening.

    IIRC, the Improved Jaheira Romance fixes this. You can find it at a number of places, including the official patch. Try that.

    Huh? What are you talking about? The official patch certainly doesn't contain that mod. Heh. Even with all the official patches this romance is still so big-ridden it's impossible to get anywhere with it without manually fixing it in places.

    Kinda off-topic, but I think it is still appropriate...

    In my one-time romance with the Harper, Meronia never ever appeared. However, that did not affect my romance at all. I did all the Harper quests. Does anyone know why? Dermin did appear very early to attack me though. But how could Dermine appear before Meronia?

    BTW, many people like Jaheira (maybe not "drool") over her. At least here. Just search for some old posts I am not about to resurrect in which the three romantic females were compared. Jaheira didn't do so bad.

    Hmm, Tal, that's odd. I seem to remember documentation that came with one of the official patches (not sure if its ToB or SoA one, though) that mentions the Fixed/Improved Jaheira Romance Mod and gives credit to the authors. It even includes the jaheira.bcs file. Maybe I'll have to look that up, find out for sure.

    This is what's in the patch txt. It doesn't really say what or how much much of it was fixed, but definitely the whole thing wasn't implemented. And the Baldurdash fix isn't the same as the Improved Jaheira Romance, as far as I know. Actually, I don't think I have a link to it anywhere... Post it, if you have.

    And in any event, you can still see a great amount of bug reports about the Jaheira romance in this forum so it doesn't look like the patch did anything much, no matter what it contained. Notice that the guy above said he has the last patch installed...

    For 2 times I've lost my nerves completely over the Jaheira romance, when it bugged right after the bandit's attack (she never left my party or anything, the romance just stopped and didn't continue advancing). I've tried all those damned global commands etc. that're supposed to re-activate, re-start or just re-locate the romance so it should move on, and none of them have worked.

    For some exp. whacker it might be easy and familiar to just play over and over and over again, but not for me. I need to have some feelings involved when playing a rpg. A romance is not something that HAS to be there. But when I do engage in a romance, I do NOT appreciate a damn bug ending up destroying it every time. How much feeling can you have in the game when you're constantly reminded how a simple bug can destroy a beautiful romance time and time again. So my advice to you: Forget Jaheira. No point in wasting time over something that will come over time and luck only, and by that point it'll not feel any better than crap anyway.
