Looking for a way to explore the different wild surges, I learned that Ctrl-H is the way to go. Problem is: it won't work. I have ToB with the latest patch and cheats enabled but still when I hit Ctrl-H nothing appears in the console and wild surges (using Nahal's Reckless Dweomer )are still random.
    What am I doing wrong?
Is this a bug of some sort?

You don't need to explore all wild surges, they are all listed in the manual ;)

I know that, still reading about them is not as fun as experimenting them in the game. :heh:

The way I've understood Ctrl-H is that by changing the wild surge number, that changes the wild surge starting number; not the wild surge number itself. Wild surges are still going to be random, it's just now the surge number starts as something other than zero.

And I agree -- reading about them isn't nearly as fun as seeing them occur.

Bah, seeing how a magic missle changes into a fireball because of a wild surge isn't that intersting ;) .

I have to disagree. When the number is set to a value, every spellcaster always gots the same surge.
I have been doing that sometimes when battling a mage, first let him change to wolf, then kill him with a Chromatic Orb without save :D !

No, but firing a magic missile and having it drop a cow on your opponent instead is interesting, not to mention funny.

Remember that saughan (spelling?) that tries to return the silver sword.

Not sure if I got that quote right, it's been awhile but he was pretty cool.

    Question:
I don't see anything writing down in the console (or anywhere else) when I hit Ctrl-H, is this normal?

Then how do you keep track of the surge number you set?

I think for every time hitting Ctrl-H it increases for one.

Are you sure the cheats are enabled? You should see a line that says something to the effect of "wild surge = XX".
