Problem 1): It's the famous "You could not initiate dialogue. xxx appears busy" bug!! Yippe for me! Now I have definatly seen the patch to this problem before but I didn't bother downloading it! I know, sucks to be me. So who knows where to download the fix?

Problem 2): This has been pestering me for a while, and it seems to happen only when I have ToB. I have way to many mods/items/others to determine the problem, but whenever I came in view with somebody who can cast spells they will instantly cast EVERY single defensive spell they can (Ribald, for example). This is rather annoying.

Question: Do you think this party is good enough?

    Me (a sorcerer)
Yoshimo (Dualed into Fighter at 11th level, yes, I know what will happen)
    Aerie (Romancing!)
    Jan
    Anomen
    Cernd (Grr! Werewolf!)

Note that I have played BG2 numerous times so I know most outcomes. This party is a bit magic-biased (in fact there is no pure warrior in the group. I want to rely on Cernd's shapeshifting a lot. So do you think it's OK?

    Thanx!!

problem 1: Ddo a little rummaging here at Sorcerer's Place and you should find that patch.

problem 2: They're using contingency spells or spell triggers. Live with it. ;) (by the way, why the hell do you want to fight Ribald?)

As for your party... well, I believe that ANY party can beat the game. :)

Problem 1: If you haven't found it yet go here .

Problem 2: You say you have to many mods/...? I think its the 'Improved spellcasters'. I've got it to so I know it is annoying but the best thing you can do is to not mind it at all.

Your party is just as good as any other can be if you know how to play. ;)

    Sorcerers rule :D :D :D .

You can also get the patch to fix that by starting up BG2 and clicking the update button.

It's the improved mages mod, part of Weimer's package. They're not using contigencies or sequencers though. Most of the spells that they cast are too high to be put into these spells and nowhere does the text say "Sequencer/Contigency fired". What it is that they do is akin to the player casting defensive spells before a fight because he knows the fight is imminent.

That's a fairly weak looking party. Cernd is that brilliant as a tank, he's alright but you couldn't soley rely on it I wouldn't think. Anomen is alright as a tank though. Who will replace Yoshimo? If you pick up Sarevok in ToB then that would work quite well....

    Your PC (for spells)
    Sarevok (main tank)
    Anomen (tank + clerical spells)
Aeirie (she's got the range of spells hasn't she?)
Jan (I always take him for his theiving but I'd far rather another thief)
    Cernd (summoning + third Tank)

With the exception of Jan (just personally don't like him), I think your party is fine. Not a "can't touch this" type, but not totally incapable either.

I'm curious, though. Did you consider:

    - Haer'Dalis (duel wields & decent magic)
    - Nalia (better mage than Haer'Dalis, but not as amusing)

Just curious. With you romancing Aerie, Haer'Dalis would spice things up.

Aerie + chain contingency + spell trigger + spell sequencer = look out!
