Have you ever bought a product only to find out it does not do what they say it should do?
Take Cascade Complete for example. They claim you can put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and this stuff is suppose to disololve the food off the dishes. Of course, I tried it. And there was still food on the dishes!

Well, I think that the amount of food still on the dishes kinda comes into account as well. How much was there still on it? ;)

I once bought a lamp that didn't make any light. (yes I put in a perfectly good lightbulb) I also have a boomerang that doesn't come back to me when I throw it, but that might not be because of the boomerang :p

If you include voting as buying then government is by far the most significant example.

My mother-in-law, officially a thing and not a person, is always saying how she'll shut up and leave, but she never does!

Seriously, I slipped in the common sense department and bought Ron Popeil's Rotisserie. It is not nearly as easy to use as he says, and it doesn't do nearly the job he says it will. My own blasted fault for buying something from the TV, I suppose. I should know better.

Damn those TV shopping hosts! They're the scourge of humanity. They're almost as bad as telemarketers. :flaming: ;)

The album White Ladder, by David Gray.

The Times claims it makes your life feel better by it's mere existence.

However, as great an album as it is, it did quite the opposite to me, and send me spiralling into a nervous breakdown. :)

I bought an electric razor that said it was the best razor in it's class. First off...how or why does a razor have a class? And secondly, it cut me more than a nervous barber with a straight blade razor. :hahaerr: I wonder what would have happened if I got the $55 one. :rolling:

Khelben, if moniters are anything like TVs, it measures from one corner to the opposite one.

I recall a commercial for some dish detergent where the model took a freshly baked cake, frosting and all, and put the whole kit and kaboodle in the dishwasher. When it came out, only the spotless plate remained.

WOW! A detergent that destroys matter.

No kidding? And then they wonder why ppl are lacking interest in voting. I for one know that no matter who gets elected for what, the general machinery of bureucracy and slow handling makes sure nothing will ever change here. I mean, what's the likelyness of 200 people ever agreeing on anything. I still don't know who's the ape called Bush's puppetmaster, so I'll leave him out of this.

I bought one of those multi-pens, you know, the 'ten-pens-in-one' pens, and there was a money back guarantee on it so you could send it back if it didn't work. It didnt work and there was no address to send it to, and the shop refused to take it back!!

    GUTTED :p

ANYTHING which mentions the words "planetary alignment" or... (shudder)... "crystals." New-Age pseudo-crap just annoys the hell out of me.
