    5 in bastards?!
You are either a mazohists, bastardophile or a newbie. There isn`t a single good bastard sword in the whole game!

Spear, well that`s a good proficenty for a fighter that caries no shield.

There's one bastard sword I liked a lot: Jhor the Bleeder.

It depends on what your other party members are like. You should have weapons that 'compliment' your parties skills and none that duplicate or compete with a skill that a NPC party member already has. If you dont' have a party member who has decent proficiency with an Axe, Mace, Flail, Hammer or Katana then you may want to consider these. I say this only because some of the best single handed weapons in the game are the +3 Azuredge Throwing Axe, Flail of Ages, Crom Faeyr and Celestial Fury.

These deal great damage and have major benefits besides that alone.

If you really want great toe to toe fighters you may want to consider Korgan and Valygar. Korgan is FORMIDDABLE with an +3 Stone Fire or +3 Frostweaver Axe or +3 throwing Hammer (need proficiency points). And no NPC wields the Celestial Fury like Valygar. Dual wield it with his own Katana and he rocks.

[IMG] If you like 5 stars in bastard swords then go for it. There aren't many good ones but that makes it harder and even more fun to play. Stand up for the rights of "weaker" weapons!

If you already have 5 in bastard sword, take proficiencies in single weapon style. It is SO satisfying having a low armor class without even having a shield.

Btw, pietrov, what kit are you or are you playing straight?
Take 2H swords instead (if you are too lazy to start a new game use ShadowKeeper), the first decent weapon you get is a +2 Sword of Chaos, and after that there are a couple excellent Two-Handers.

    SPOILER

If you take the following party:
You - Warblade or Vorpal Sword (2H swords + 2H style)
Anomen - Crom Faeyr (hammers + Sw and Shield)
Nalia - Gesen Bow (Sh. Bows)
    Keldorn - Carsomyr (2H + 2H style)
Valygar - Celestial Fury dual with Corthala Family (Katanas)
Jan - Light Crossbow of Speed,

you get a VERY powerful party that isn't even fun to play - too hyped.

[IMG] Jhor the bleeder. Damn, musta missed that one too... What were the +3 or higher long swords in the game aside from the equalizer and the blade of roses? Long swords are the most pratical to put in, I put 5 in there then 2 in my 2 weapon style and dual wielded these 2. You shouldn't put Katanas at the start unless you intend on going to the guarded slaver compound and retrieving Celestial Fury right away right?

[IMG] jhor the bleeder is good but as a whole the bastard sword category is pretty weak and is only for people who play bards cause they deserve to have crappy weapons.Yes I hate bards so what is bards anonymous gonna send me hate mail now :)

Well, a good bastard-sword with 5 slots is better then a very good weapon with 1 prof. slot. So stay using the bastard sword(s), when you use one, just put another slot on Sword and Shield-style or think about two-weapon-fighting when you got 2 nice bastard swords....
