Are proficiencies in long swords worth it? I mean, all of the long swords are only +3 up to ToB. So most of the time, you wouldn't be doing much in BIG fights in SoA. Also, as a berserker-thief, could you comment on my choice? 3* in 2weaponstyle, 3* longsword, and 2* in 2HandedSword, before dualling. If i put 1* into two handed weapon style as a thief, will the berserker reap the benefits when i get the skills back?

    Consider the following two swords:

Angurdavaal +5 (sets Strength to 22, permanent negative plane protection, fire damage each hit), a worthy sword in its own right, and even better as an off-hand weapon for a dual-wielding character.

Answerer +4 (each hit drops target's A.C. by 2 and Magic Resistance by 15%, drawback - a speed factor of 9).

If you can fit either of these into your party's setup, then Long Sword proficiency is definitely worth it. I won't say where they are unless you ask for their locations.

The Answerer Sword in particular is invaluable during the climax of the Ascension module.

1* as a thief in 2 handed weap style will return after the dual classing is complete. I think thieves can get it.

Hmm it's worth in SoA but not in ToB,sadly so as Katanas IMO.But you can use it with a good bastard sword(Foebane,my favorite).Don't dual-wield until you get minimum 2 stars in 2 weapon fighting style.

IMO longswords are worth it, with the two swords Beren mentioned as my reason - both very effective weapons. Just give the Answerer to a kensai and the speedfactor is irrelevant.

Longswords are really good, though personally I prefer bastard swords. (Foebane to be precise ;) )But good longswords are available throughout the entire game, while bastard swords aren't. So yeah. Definetely worth it.
