Telexstar you just hit on 1 of the 2 most annoying issues to deal with in this game. There are so many creatures that can 'Stun' without even giving it a second thought.

What's worse is that there is no 'spell protection' that seems to work for me. However Psionics are different. You can use the Cleric spell 'Chaotic Commands' to protect yourself. Also if you are in the Underdark, there is a place where you can stock up on a special potion that will protect you for a limited period of time. -very limited it seemed to me because I was chuggin down potion after potion after potion.

Stun was my Fighter's worse enemy through the entire game (which I finished as of today). The other irritating spell is MISLEAD. If you haven't finished the game yet, you'll hate this spell later in the game too.

When i used chaotic commands before fighing flayers it prevented stunning. Also have a cleric or mage cast true seeing before (or while) fighting mages that use mislead. It dispells all hostile illusions once each round for a round per level of the caster. It also gets rid of blur, mirror image, simulcrum and all the invisibility spells.

    Thanks!!

    What is 'Simulcrum'?

Thats another thing, Does casting True seeing enable you to cast other spells on Santified or invisible creatures? as this was my main problem with that demilich in the unseeing eye quest. In the end I just had one character running around untill all his spell protections wore off.

Yes True Seeing is a GREAT spell. Use it now because you will be using it in the last battles of BG2. It disrupts ANY illusion during the length of 1 turn. It works on Mirror Images, Invis to any Illusion or Cloaking spell. I actually found it best when 2 Cleric classed characters have it on at the same time.

Simalacrum is an Illusion, but a very powerful one. It creates a copy of a wizard that can spell cast and take damage as well, allowing the real wizard to nearly double his dangerous capacity.

And yes, you have to cancel out an Invisible spell or Sanctified opponent before you can target a spell on him. True Seeing is just one of the methods to do this, but I don't think there is any better method in the game.

Oh, another spell that will resist stunning is Free Action. I don't know if there's a Ring of Free Action in the game, but my cleric has the spell.

WRETCHED... THANK YOU... if it works. I'm playing my second time through and I was DREADING fighting certain creatures with my MONK.

I will try the FREE Action spell or ring at my next opportunity! I cant figure out though... "how come I didn't think of that!" Yeesh, it makes sense that the spell/ring will work however. (and a couple of swords, etc also give the FREE ACTION effect as well)

I was pissed off because Wizard Slayers (Myself) can't use potions. Ah well.

The Only Ring of Free Action that I have come across in the game was in the asylum (quite late I think) so I feel that this would not be the game long saviour that you suspect.

Not like the previous games where they hung from trees (oh happy days).
