A thought regarding the plot of BG1. You always have to stop the war between Baldur's Gate and Amn, I think, wheras an evil character, IMO, would go along with Sarevok's plan and then kill Sarevok at the end to grab all the power for him/herself. I tried contributing to the plan by assasainating the Amnish ambassador etc., that had no discernible consequences. I was unpopular in Nashkel, but that was due (I think) to trying and failing to steal from the shop. Anyone got any thoughts on trying to provoke Amn?

The worst part IMO in BG1 is that it effectively forces you to be a good character. For example no self respecting evil mage (like Edwin) would help a city clear a kobold infested mine, even for the amount of money they are giving.

I do agree that you are forced to play it nice in BG but it's only a computer game and you can only have limited options on roleplay. It would be nice to cause the war to errupt or sth but just think about the amount of programming it would take. It's not worth it since only a part of the evil characters would decide to leave the wealth and fame to wreak havoc instead. I might try it though ;).
Btw, on the provocation isssue, the only thing you can do is kill everyone that comes from amn, soldier and all. But that would only cause your reputation to drop really low.

If I recall corectly, in "Might & Magic 7 "
U can choose which side U R going to play. The first part is the same, but after that the quests R opposite. Very nice game, better than 8.
