    Hello all,

Firstly, I just want to say that I'm completely new to Baldur's Gate. I've heard so much about it in the past but have only began to play it. Very big mistake. I'm only up to CH2, but I'm already very impressed and can easily see this taking a spot in my top 5 games. (if not the 1st spot!...we'll see)

Anyway, I have a quick Q about character interactions. I realize the characters adjust their level/tone/etc of communication based on your response to them. For instance, for a while I had been having some interesting and regular interactions with Viconia. I think this was because I never said anything discouraging to her, so she kept coming back to communicate.

The trouble is, it got to the point where her constant sniping became a bit much and I wanted to let her know this. I responded with something like: "Viconia, you are nasty to everyone and your unpredictable personality is too much at times" (or something like that anyway)

Ever since then, she has not attempted to communicate with me at all. I have a similar situation with Yoshimo. He was quite talkative and I responded positively to him 99% of the time but made a single comment such as: "Yoshimo, now is not the time, please talk to another member of the group" and now he never attempts to communicate.

I do enjoy the conversations which the NPCs instigate. So, I would like to know, is there any way to get back "in the loop" with these characters or have I accidentally destroyed any kind of friendly/personal interactions with these characters for the rest of the game? Is it just a matter of time, or do I have to do something?

Any information on how this works would be appreciated.

*EDIT* Also, Minsc never seems to communicate and I do not remeber ever saying anything to upset him. Is this normal for Minsc in the game?

For the most part NPCs talk to you with specific encounters or in specific places. They complain or compliment you based on your reputation. All NPCs interact with each other (usually without your input). Some are more talkative than others, especially the romancable NPCs. Only the romancable NPCs change their "tone" based on your responses.

I've got some bad news for you -- you killed the romance with Viconia (unless you have a saved game before you insulted her). She's one of three romancable women in the game and the romances add a lot of dialog. As with most romances they want you to put up with garbage when their in a bad mood and treat them with respect.
