Hi, after 600 posts and 600 times seeying: With buying books you can help Sorcerers' etc. I decided to buy some books. I read the books of Tolkien a few times but now want to read them in English. For I live in The Netherlands I choose Amazone.co.uk. The question is, how much are the costs for sending the books? And is it maybe better to choose Amazone.de?

AFAIK the shipping should be (almost) the same across the EU (they only do a VAT adjustment) but i am not sure that the 'de' has the same assortment in english written books.

In which part of the Netherland do you live? You should come to Alkmaar, here we have a big bookstore with all the Tolkien books in English (Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Silmariallon (or how ever you may write it)and the Unfinished Tales)

    I bought them all there

Post again if you are interrested in directions in ALKMAAR

Unfortunatly I live in Arnhem. There is a direct train connection to Alkmaar (train to Den Helder) but that makes the books even more expensive then when I order them at Amazon. But what's the name of the store, maybe there are more of them in The Netherlands.

O ja bedankt voor je hulp ;)

Thanks Bogi, I was looking on the site and couldn't it, and I didn't had the possibilty to do a real good search for I was also at work..... I suppose that when you can pay with your Bank-account on Amazon.de it's also possible on Amazon.co.uk! Thanks.

well, i don't know the name for certain, but next time I go pass it I could look for you.

BTW yesterday in the local Vroom&Dreesman I saw the Lord of the Rings, the same version as I bought in the book store. If you have a V&D near you, you might also take a look there.

And about the Tolkien books what is your opinion about them? I bought them all but I had no time to read them yet. (Probably gonna read The Hobbit on vacation)

Well Headbanger if you are still interested, the bookstore is called Zwaan&Ter Burg, in our city it is a big book store with big window (OK that descriptions didn't get you far). Well there are also computer games for sale and video's IIRC (probably should look there if ToB is for sale already)

Headbanger, unfortunately not. Not yet anyway. I might get around to striking a deal with them in the future though, but that won't happen in the next few days...
