[IMG] I just came from the pillar of skulls, after asking it how to get out of baator. And I'm pretty sure that Forked-Tongue already told me how to do it, anyway!

Fought my way to the place where the exit portal is supposed to be. No dice. Nothing. Nada. I walked all over the obsidian rocks, even into the crannies between the red boulders, and no dialogue options popped up, no question marks showed up on my cursor, nothing. Anybody have any idea what the problem is? I've referenced multiple forum threads from various websites, and even a couple of walkthroughs to get visual aids to where the portal is to make sure I'm in the right place. I've already gone through Baator like four times just to get to this point, and I'd really hate to have to do it all over again. I'm really hoping it's not a crazy glitch in my game that I can't fix. I'm starting to despair a bit. =/

[IMG] Do you have a save before asking the Pillar of Skulls how to leave Avernus?

Could be a one off glitch that didn't set the value properly on the variable that detects where you know what to do.

Otherwise I don't currently have any PS:T saves where I could double check for you :( and would be working from a fairly tampered with memory of the experience.

I can only direct you here I'm afraid so you can double check you're checking the right cubby hole in the map.

What version of the game is it and does it have any patches or fixes installed?

Hi! I'm pretty sure I do have a save from before I talked to the pillar about the exit; I've been sort of obsessive about saving frequently, due to a few game crashes in the past that spooked me! Haha.

I suppose my main concern is that I'm about 90% sure that Fhjull (or however you spell it) also told me about how to get out, so that would mean I wouldn't have needed to go to the pillar and ask. But when I left the pillar without asking, the same thing happened; I fought my way over to the portal area, and nothing happened. I only asked the pillar about the exit because I second guessed myself and thought that maybe Fhjull HADN'T told me how to get out. =/

I'm rambling. I guess I'm just saying that I'm concerned it's a "bigger" glitch than it would appear. I'll go back a save or two and fight my way to the portal again and see what happens, just in case.

ETA: I should also say that I am at the correct place; I've referenced that map myself to make sure! Haha. I even fought my way up to where the damsel in distress was just to make sure the map wasn't reversed for some reason. =P

ETA2: Sorry, didn't see your question about versions/mods at first. It's a GOG.com version, and I've applied the mods outlined on this page: thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2009/01/planescape-torment-fully-modded.html

It's possible that it's due to one of those mods - beware of mod guides telling you that their idea of a bunch of mods is "how the game should be played". You'll likely wind up with a severely overmodded game and problems introduced by mods which you otherwise wouldn't have encountered. For the first playthrough you shouldn't install any mods at all, except perhaps the widescreen mod, Platter's fixes and some minor modifications available separately on SP. Once you've got so many mods installed and a problem comes up it's hard to trace the exact culprit unfortunately...
