I probably should have asked this before posting, but am I correct that the part about "good pictures" mentioned in the screenshots section of the site only applies to screenshots submitted for the more general sections of the site, or the "pic of the week", rather than private albums?

Even if it does apply to private albums, is it acceptable to upload a lousy looking screenshot when asking for help fixing the lousy graphics?

I've had a bunch of misunderstandings lately, and don't want to get in trouble here for violating the rules. I'm 99% sure it only applies to submitting screenshots to the site and not the private albums the way I used it for this thread , but thought I'd ask to be sure.

Yes, that's correct. You actually can't upload high-quality formats like bmp and tga in the forum albums due to space concerns as these formats are very large in size. So the instructions to send in high-quality formats are just for things like the featured screenshot where I can compress the image myself to get the quality I want.

You can upload anything you want to your albums here, no matter how crappy. :p Though we appreciate good looking screenshots more. ;) But yes, if you're just uploading something to illustrate a problem it doesn't matter what quality your jpg is. A good jpg quality to follow is at least 85-90% (or 10-15% compression, depending on what your graphics program uses) with chroma subsampling turned off. That will produce jpgs with very little visible quality loss.

If you've got any problems getting this all to work don't be afraid to ask, this really doesn't fall under any kind of rule violations.
