Ok, so I'm planning on replaying BG saga, this time 'duo' - with Imoen, and possibly Sarevok, but this remains to be seen.

Because I want my charname to be a Fighter/Swashbuckler, I don't really need a thief, and I've been thinking of making Imoen a Sorcerer. So:

- If I simply dualed Immy into Sorcerer(If it's even possible), would the thief levels give me any profit? Specifically, can dualclassed characters use items from inactive class(I.e. short bows)? At which level would it be the best to dual from Thief?
- Does Intelligence affect the number of spells Sorcerers can cast/learn? I found a thread about it but it didn't give a definite answer.
- Most important: After I get through BG, is there any way to transfer the Imoen character file to BG2(I will be using TuTu for BG so no 'engine' problems)? I figure I would use INT/WIS tomes on her and the rest on my 'martial' charname.
- When will Earl Grey upload his Sorcerer spell list guide he promised in mid-2005? :]

 

Ummm NO!

You can't dual yourself to a swashbuckler or Imoen to a sorcerer, it's just not possible with the game engine.

 

Unless you are going to use Shadow Keeper, I'm afraid both of your ideas are impossible. You can only chose a kit from your first class, and not the class you are dualling to. Therefore a fighter -> swashbuckler is impossible. However, I think a Swashbuckler -> Fighter is a much more powerful combination anyway, and you CAN do that. I would recommend dualling from SB to fighter at level 10. Or 15 if you are patient enough.

As for Imoen, there is no way to dual to or from a sorcerer. Again, Shadow Keeper can help you out here if you want to do it.

Imoen can obviously be dualled into a mage. If you go this route, I'd recommend you dual her at level 2. Your swashbuckler is going to be taking care of all the thief skills anyway, so there's no real point of waiting on Imoen.

Dual classed characters can start using the weapons and items available to thier first class as soon as their second class exceeds the level of their first class. As such, if you dual Imoen at level 2, she won't be able to use short bows again until her mage level hits level 3.

Intelligence has no effect on the number of spells a sorcerer can learn, although that question is a bit moot at this point.

Isen't there a Imoen as Sorc. mod??

 

I have seen a mod for her that makes her a vanilla thief and another that changes her second class, poss to a conjurer (?) but not a sorcerer.
