[IMG] I'm about to start a new BG game and want to carry my character to BGII. I'm going to use a fighter and I'm thinking about the Kensai kit but I've got a couple of questions before I run all the way through BG.

First off, is the Kensai kit alignment sensitive... I believe I read somewhere that a Kensai can't be chaotic. And can a Kensai use helmets... in the kit description it only says you can't use armor, bracers, or missle weapons but in some topics I've read they mention a Kensai can't use helmets... what's right?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

    1: A kensai can't be chaotic,
2: I don't think they can wear helmets either.

However, there's the Mask if King Strohm which even mages can put on their heads and it protects from critical hits... Whether you consider it cheating or not is up to you. ;)

Well I made a dual Kensai/Mage and I was able to use Ion Stones for a helm. Sorry I do not recall if that was due to the Kensai or Mage; you may look into that possibility.

    - I don't think using Strohlm's mask is cheating; if it was just meant to detect those illusions why give her protection from criticals?

    - Usually, Ioun Stones can be used by anyone. Some have also nice powers

    - How are you going to play a Kensai from the first BG?

When you import a character from a pure class from BG1 into BG2 you have the option of switching to a kit of that class. He could play through BG1 as a fighter, then start BG2 with that character as a Kensai, which is convenient considering he'll be starting with no armor.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I'm planning on starting BG with a fighter then make him a Kensai in BG2. It's seems the pros outway the cons... what sounds good to me is the possibility of getting +14 to hit and damage then Kai 10 times a day. Enemies have a hard time hitting you if they're dead before they swing.

    Kensai's are so cool.
I have soloed one through the entire series by the way. He had a hard time but in the end he succeeded.(I started as a fighter of course. ;))
