    First if all i am a bg2 *rookie* so i need some help...

    Are rings, gems and so on 'useless'? can you take a ring and a gem to some 'jewller' to make it a 'special' ring?

    what does wisdom and intellegence directly affect in a non-mage 'dude'? (dex = ac, str = higher dammage, con = higher HP).

    And how many chapters are there?

    Nonmagical rings, gems etc. can be sold for gold pieces. Certain rare gems can be used for other reasons (improving magic items, keys to secret places etc.)

    7 Chapters IIRC...

    Wisdom is important for Clerics, and I think WIS and INT help with resistances to certain spells etc.

    1/ Sell them, except for the most expensive, you need them sometimes, like Blackthorne said.

    2/ Wisdom and Intelligence are useful to resist some mind spells, i.e. you can get out of the 'Labyrinth' quicker with a high Intelligence. And Wisdom is useful for Mages who want to cast 'Limited Wish', greater the Wisdom is, greater is the choice of wishes you can do.

    I'm not very sure myself, until I noticed that Jaheira got more XP than Minsc even though both joined at the same time. For further confirmation, my priest in IWD always seemed to get more XP than the other party members. Also, in Planescape, characters do get XP bonuses if they have a high wisdom.
