Is there a post on sorcerers that lists all the races of D&D, and the forgotten realms?

 

The basic races for D&D are Elves, Half Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Gnomes, Halflings, and Half-Oorcs. You can find info on these races at http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd/srdbasiccharacterraces.html

FR does have more race but you'd have to check the FRCS book for them.

I knew about the elves and all that, i was talking about the more complicated ones, like, i dunno, say the githyanki (sp) and things like that. Theres people on the roleplay forums who are species that i have absolutely no idea what they are. But the link you just gave me isjust the kind of thing i would like, thanks

A lot of those are not 'really' PC races but if you are interested here is a list of race that 'could' be used. http://www.wku.edu/~charles/rpgs/d&d/list_ecl.html

The third column has the references for the details. I also have a electronic version of FRCS around somewhere. If I can find it I'll put the link up here.

Personally, Using the method from the FRCS, where to advance to <CR> you need the XP for <CR+ECL>, I don't have a problem with most any of these races. It allows for players to play funky races(if appropriate for the setting, a very key point), but it means that players who wish to play humans or halfling or any of the other core races aren't getting screwed over.

Don't forget a DM is mighty. He can change things in a class or allow a player to make changes.

 

This is true but at the same time the DM should keep the game balanced. That is the true measure of a good DM fun & balanced at the same time.
