I've got FreeRam and after I use it, my RAM goes from 335 to 81 or something in just a few minutes. How do you stop this rapid decreasing?

    Thanks in advance

Do you mean some second-grade memory "manager" which just pushes stuff from RAM to swap on disc?

    What's your operating system?

And that's not a RAM problem - from what I can gather, your RAM is working just fine, and I'd attribute this "problem" 100% on the user not knowing how it should work.

Rambooster is undoubtedly the best tool for freeing memory, but really, if you're running w2k/xp, their memory handling is good enough without any extra tools.

What he should really do is to cut down on the memory usage. Pushing something to swap is going to bring it back the instant it's needed and slow down the computer.

... now, Windows 95/98/98SE/ME then again, there the memory handling is very poor and Rambooster can do miracles.

What do Freeram and/or Rambooster actually do?

Basically tries to stop unused or background applications using system RAM. Essentially, it leaves you with more free memory (so your computer should be faster).

IIRC, they like to shove as much unneeded stuff from the RAM in to the paging file (virtual memory on your HDD)...problem is, as soon as any program that's been swept in to the virtual memory needs to run, it takes longer for the program to move back in to the real RAM. :bad: :rolling:
