Random Freezes in IE Games

    I have this problem in several Infinity Engine games (I've observed it in Baldur's Gate, IWD 1&2, and PS:T), where the game will randomly, completely freeze. It doesn't happen often; perhaps once every few hours, and I'm able to restart again normally, and load my last saved game... but I'd like it to stop doing it at all.

    I'm using a Win98SE system with a 1.9 gig processer and 256 mb of RAM. My video card is an MSI MS-8808. I can get you more information if you need it.

    wheni play sometimes, it just freezes for like 15 seconds and goes again right where it left off, no problem...have you tried to wiat out the freezes or jsut gave up right away?

    It freezes solid; we've let it sit for several minutes at a time, waiting for it to work, but it simply refuses to do anything. You can't even Crtl+Alt+Del, Alt+Tab, Alt+F4, or Windows key your way out of it; the only option is a hard restart.

    Nexx, we have the same problem...

    We play IWD2 on a LAN, and it regularly just freezes... The other one has to save, quit the game and restart it, and then we're off again... It's a bit frustrating, but we thought it was a bug, since the game is so bug-heavy... Now, when I think about it, it can't be a bug because our screens freeze at random so...

    but still the game is bug-heavy, patches or not!

    It's not just LAN games, however; it does this on PS:T, which is single-player only, and it does it on non-LANed games.
