    What is the difference?

For those going WTF? - in Monty Python's Flying Circus, the guys dressed up as women. I always put Graham, John, Michael and Eric in the category of pepperpots and Terry Jones is a definite ratbag.

In drag they are all pepperpots -- that's the definition of the term coined by Graham Chapman.

Ratbag is quite offensive, I wouldn't consider any of them a ratbag.

So, what's the difference between the 2 words/phrases?

    ratbag noun: 1. slang
A mean, despicable person. Although in the referenced material it is being used to classify Terry Jones as a more Shrill "woman".

"Pepper Pot" refers to what the Pythons believed was the typical body shape of middle-class British housewives.

Ratbag as a term goes beyond the definition provided by Dethwynd -- it also questions the person's integrity and honesty.

I'm getting that I don't know what they mean/define.

I only have a vague idea based off MPFC. From there, pepperpots were usually middle to upper class women (or nuns or monarchs). Ex: Eric as Mrs. Blackitt (Meaning of Life), Graham and John (Mrs. Entity and Mrs. Thing, MPFC). Ratbags were lower class women. Ex: Terry J. as Dennis' mother (Holy Grail), Mandy Cohen (Life of Brian) and Mrs. Brown (Meaning of Life).

Gods, I'm sorry I bothered to ask the question! I'll shut my cakehole next time and keep wondering.

Why be sorry? It's a fun question.

I don't remember MPFC using the term ratbag -- but it's been a while since I've seen any Monty Python. Mrs Bruno doesn't like British humor.
