So, anyone who has read Ravenloft books, I ask for your opinion. Are they worth of buying and which one should I read first?

Well, I've only read two or three of them and all of them made me cry at some point in time, especially Dance of the Dead. *gets teary eyed just thinking about it* But, I'm sure you big, strong guys don't shed tears like we females do, but that's all good. As to which book to start on, I laugh at this question. The Ravenloft is very big, kinda like the Forgotten Realms world. You start where you want to, basically, most of the books aren't connected, just make sure you get the prequels before the sequels, that's the biggest problem you're going to have.

Whoo! Rambling, I better stop. Anyways, yeah, they're pretty good. Check some out.

[IMG] The number of Ravenloft novels still in print is very small... And two of them tie in with Dragonlance. (The ones about Lord Soth.)

    See http://www.sorcerers.net/Books/index_dl2.php

Actually, good luck finding any others in print but those two. The setting's more or less abandoned so I doubt anything'll get reprinted.

I did a quick search of Amazon and Tal's right, the Soth books are the only novels that came up right away and can be bought new.

Though I wouldn't call the setting abandoned. It's happily made it's way to an independent publisher and has survived into 3rd edition, something which cannot be claimed for Dark Sun, Planescape, Spelljammer, Birthright, et al.

Yes, but they won't be releasing any novels, afaik. Which is the subject of this topic. So whether Ravenloft made it to 3e or not has little bearing on novels.
