The party explored the cabins downstairs, finding some wares. Jakob found hide armors and some gold in the chests. In the stern they found a captain's cabin with some maps on the table and a trapped chest. Jakob was not very lucky with the trap, so he left that for later. Moving towards the bow, they came to the main hold full of wine barrels where Milla fell through the rotten hull, but was quickly pulled back up. A door led to another cabin in the bows where they found another outlaw and Milla knocked him unconscious. There was another hatch to the deck, had some outlaws escaped that way?
When the party moved back to the deck, a throwing dagger narrowly missed Jakob. Milla looked up to see someone moving in the rigging. He grabbed a line and swung down acrobaticaly, knocking Mistle completely off the ship, then caught onto the rigging on the other side. Sarathien and Jakob shot at this outlaw, who looked like the man they knew as 'Jack'. Garacaius blasted him with magic missiles. Jack returned fire with a throwing dagger and Garacaius hit the deck, bleeding. Hayden hacked at the rigging with his axe while the others loosed off arrows. Jack no longer liked the odds and dived into the river, closely followed by Sarathien.
He was a better swimmer than either Mistle or Sarathien so sadly, he escaped in a small rowing boat. Sarathien tried to chase him in the water, but nearly drowned (as did Mistle) until the others aided them. Jakob hit him with a bolt from Garacaius's crossbow before the boat slipped round a bend in the river.
Garacaius and Hayden suggested they chase the pirate on horseback while Jakob decided to stay and check that trapped chest once again. Dusk was falling and the skies were darkening.

Milla realises that she won't be much use on horseback in the dark so she decides to stay in the boat.
Before going back she walks over to where they left their horses and brings them back to the boat putting them by the other horses.
Milla enters the boat grabbing some rope on the way and walks over to the last outlaw tying him up and bringing him to the other prisoners (Wherever that is). Before leaving them she studies them carefully. Are these the bandits that have been raiding the merchants or are they yet another group outlaws?

Entering the cabin she grabs a seat and sits down to keep Jakob company while he works.

"You know Jakob, I think Garacaius is taking this far too personal. Jack getting away isn't good but we have exposed his operations here and flushed him out. That accounts for something doesn't it?"

 

Click! Jakob opened the chest without incidents or accidents. Inside he found 300gp, a set of hide armour, a throwing dagger the twin of that that landed next to him in the deck, a disguise kit and a letter:

'Jack

Our allies are getting impatiant. It is time to step up your activities against the merchants. I want complete control of the wine trade by the end of the month. Eliminate all opposition including these pathaetic 'vigilantes'. The Black Pig will visit the Mudskipper on the 30th to take on what cargo you have amassed by then and reward your efforts. Do not fail us.
