The party continued chatting with Willard, except for Tanari, who paid a visit at the shrine to Mael. The elf saw a statuette of a winged humanoid, but he could not discern anything about it. Tanari also left an offering of 10 gp there.

The party, including Willard, traveled to the inn, where they made some small talk. Tanari performed rather well, earning the accolades of the people present, including a robed man. The robed man, identifying himself as Themm, requested the elf to perform again. Tanari agreed, and performed even better. Themm returned with another three robed figures, all four of them clearly some sort of mage. Among them was Schama, the town's leader. After hearing Tanari play again, Schama requested that Tanari be present at her house in the morning to play again.

Among the four sorcerers was a redheaded woman, with a striking resemblance to Darya, the sorcerer the party had encountered earlier.

When midnight came around, the party and Dharmina, the priestess of Mael, went to the ruined church of Brenal. There, they encountered the ghost of the caretaker of the church, a priest named Thimon. The ghost explained that he used to travel around Karyst, finding unwanted children and raising them in the orphanage. However, he was killed, and now he wanted to see the one child he had not seen to grow up. This girl was named Marle, and the ghost claimed that he had a vision of her years ago, somewhere in Mesharr. The party said that they would try to find this Marle if they were in Mesharr, and the ghost thanked them, giving them two scrolls, one a divine scroll of Aid, the other unidentified. The ghost also asked the party to drop by the next morning, and he would bless them with some magic the next day.

OoC: substituting a prestidigitation for a read magic.

Tanari returned the inn to rest a bit longer, if for nothing else then to pass time till the others would awake. After another three hours, he travels back to consciousness to prepare his spells for the day.
A blessing and a curse to live the life of an elf..

Finally closing the book, he finds the two scrolls that he still hasn't been able to completely understand. Admittedly he was curious, the sensation of secrets about to be revealed was like a tickling feeling in his stomach, like had he sat with two wrapped up presents.
Muttering the incantation of the read magic spell, he makes a waving gesture and the contents of the two scrolls becomes understandable. He decides to read the ghost's scroll first, then reads the ghast scroll afterwards.

 

The scroll obtained from the church is a divine scroll of Shield Other; the scroll taken from the ghast is an arcane scroll of Blur.

Hmm, fascinating, maybe I should try and copy this one..
Having neither materials, time or resources to do so at the moment, he packs the scrolls away and finds his gear. Still a bit before dawn, Tanari walked out of the inn finding a place free of people and pulled forth Lunaris.

More blood will be spilled before the end..
Practising what was a graceful dance rather than actual swordplay, Tanari let the memories of the Darya and possible similarities of the other girl he had seen roll through his mind.
Bad raising.. priestess of the Storm Goddess.. apprentice of Schama? Hrmm, maybe I'm seeing things.
He punched the sword at some imaginary opponent and whirled on his heel.
Raised in Mesharr, Avenshire nearby. Wonder what family this Marle was with. Kidnapped, but why..

Suddenly remembering his appointment later on, Tanari dissolves his ponderings and instead tries to remember all of that which he has been taught that would fit within a haughty circle like such that Schama's seemed to be.

Did I say Blindness/Deafness? Okay, it's actually a scroll of Blur. Oops.

 

Tanari suddenly realizes that his appearance could use a little lift, having been travelling on the road for days on end.
Hmm, haughty people rarely give much for those who look indecent.

Sheathing Lunaris, he recalls the layout of the nearby terrain he had seen coming here. Remembering the river passing by some mile away, he decided to head there. A proper bath was the least he could do.

Striding across the plain towards the river, he pondered on the idea of a companion to share his secrets. Many wizards were known to keep familiars, his own father had done so in his time. He recalled the family hawk, Winterwing, the ever aware majestic bird had served them for longer than he could really remember. He remembered his father occasionally talking with it on matters regarding even government and magic teaching.
The river came into sight and he put his gear at the side, jumping into the cold icy river. The cruel invasion of the senses, made him gasp of shock. It was terrible, yet disturbingly refreshing as if he hadn't felt so alive for a long time.
life is a bombardment of the senses..

Splashing around for a few moments, he decided leaving the water before catching a cold.
Dressing, he tried to clean off the worst stains and thought himself all in all rather clean considering the options.
On his way back to the town, he decides to use knowledge of the wilds to try and seek out some flowers. There was something about flowers that always did put a good impression on the female sex. (wilderness lore? know nature check?)

 

(It will have to be a Knowledge (geography) or Knowledge (nobility and royalty) check.)

 

Finding a few wild white flowers of no particular beauty or horrid appearance, Tanari stood brooding over them before he decided to pick up a single one. Perfect..
Returning to the inn, he expected his companions would soon be up from their sleep.

"Good morning my man! Can I have some solid breakfast and some water, please." he says to the barkeeper and sits down at a nearby table, and looks around the inn to see if there were any business or people at this time of day.

 

The innkeeper takes five silvers from Tanari (which I assume Tanari's handing over), and begins boiling some eggs and pouring some water.

Dharmina and another person, a young man of about twenty years of age, and bearing an uncanny resemblance to the ghost the party encountered that morning, are present at the inn.

As dawn breaks Cugaer is already up. For a few minutes he knees on the ground praying to Brenal, before getting up. He strolled back over to his bed and sat down.

Cugaer began donning on his armor but before long he was absorbed in thought. Wondering how Volonwe is, and if he is still alive. Thinking about his Aurnt and Uncle and how he plans to return there after Volonwe is better.

An hour or so passed before Cugaer was finally ripped from his dazy by the sound of the door closing downstairs. He quickly jumped up and hurried downstairs to quench his ever growing hunger, with his armor still only half on.

 

OoC: I suppose Dharmina and the dude are at the inn?

Waiting for his food, Tanari walks over to them and bows to Dharmina.
"Goodmorning priestess," he looks at the man at her side, and blinks a little as if seeing something he's not quite believing, then a wash of enlightment roll over his face and he smiles at the man, "Simmons, I presume?"
He extends his hand to greet the newcomer.

 

Melvin opened his eyes.

He groaned, realising that he'd fallen asleep with his little scabbard on and it had made an imprint on his sore hip. He sat up groggily, and yawned as he removed his belt and put on a shirt from his pack. Rubbing his eyes, he walked barefoot down to the bar.

"Hi, uh, good morning." He said to the man behind it.

"Could I have, uh, a mug of water please?" he asked as he fumbled around in his pocket and laid some coppers up on the bar. When the familiar clunk of a mug sounded above him, he reached up and lifted it down with both hands; glugging the fresh liquid down with renewed vigour.

He spotted Tanari and the priestess talking, and decided to head over and see what he could pick up without disturbing them.

Sitting himself down on a table nearby, he nodded and smiled at the woman before downing the rest of the mug's contents.

 

Simmon nods to Tanari.

"Yes, I'm Simmon. Dharmina said that you checked the old church early in the morning. I suppose I owe you and your four friends some money."

Simmon gives a five small pouches of coins to Tanari, each containing 50 silver pieces.
