I've seen posts in the past about a normal party not hitting the XP cap. But mine just hit Ch. 6, and three of my characters (including Keldorn and my Sorcerer) at at the 2.95M. No cheating, etc.

Now, being sure thorough, I did finish ALL of the quests I could find in the city before going to Spellhold (including demi-lich and Twisted Rune). But I've never edited my characters et al.

I did find that the Sagh City and Underdark were a breeze (I easily cleared out all three 'blood' quest dungeons), so maybe it wasn't as good an idea to run my party up first -- but I was just trying to be thorough on finishing quests before moving on.

One reason my party has had such an easy time is Keldorn. That stud, with his incredible resistances (from being an Inquisitor), great saving throws, and then item resistances (50% magic from Carm sword) just breezes through most encounters. Rarely do things both him (except imprisonment), although he is imputent a lot until a mage can strip away protections from opponents. That guy is just amazing with that sword. Aomen works well as my second (now with Crom), but he's not the indestructible force of the Inqusitor.

Anyhow, just wanted to throw in that the cap was pretty reachable, and I haven't really gone into the last set of chapters yet.

So it's a pain to see my characters starting to max/stagnate, but at least they will be raring to go for the expansion. Sure hope once HoW comes out we'll get some concrete BG2 expansion news.

Now imagine how much earlier you would have hit the cap if you had gone solo or with one person at a time (to do their specific quest). I hit the cap in chap 5.
