    Boy, I sure am glad the government's looking out for me. I'm even more glad the electorate saw fit to allow this administration a second term.

    My guess is the weasels in the White House were fairly careful to not pin themselves down. Tapping/listening in is different that making a database of who called who.

    This administration is so terrible their missteps, incompetence, venality, bullying, and borderline criminality has all started to blur together for me. I almost can't keep track anymore. It's like one giant ball of Iraqi chaos-fabricated WMD-hookergate-wiretapping-bloated budgets-historic deficits-taxcuts for corporations and the rich-ballooning trade deficits-civil rights abuses-mission accomplished-gov't sanctioned torture-election fraud-crooked fundraising-environmental rollbacks-oil industry giveaways-policy incompetence-diplomatic screwups-katrina fumbling-photo ops.

    It's like Bush administration's goal is a sub 25% approval rating. But no matter because he's a decider who decides from the gut.

    How far--or is it low--can they go? The models for this behavior are not to be found in our history. For that you have to look at the totalitarian regimes that have marred the last century. Oh, I forgot, Karl Rove is a big fan of Richard Nixon. An inspiring choice for democratic values.

    But don't you understand? Wire tapping is a good thing! The administration is protecting the American public from the evil phone using terrorists who are happy to discuss their insidious plans over an easily interceptible means of communication!
