Revised opinion on halflings & non-human paladins (not halfling paladins)

I just read thru the book Azure Bonds and I just gotta say...wow. I may not care for paladins in general, frankly I think they're potential chaotic evil psychotics, but after reading about Dragonbait the Saurial Paladin, I just had to say that: SOME paladins are alright. And this one in particular, because he's not even human and he can't speak, so no righteous blabbering, and I doubt he would if he could.. That's what I wanted to say, that SOME paladins are ok...

HOWEVER. I also read about the HALFLING BARD/THIEF Olive Ruskettle, and she pissed me off big time! What a traitor, her alignment should be chaotic evil! I bet not even Shura who claims to be chaotic evil would keep trying to screw over his friends and saviors like she did. In short: Paladins [maybe] halflings [death] This book proved my point that halflings are not good for anything except thieving and singing. >sigh<

 

Another real great story about paladins can be experienced if you read the books about Paksenarrion Dorthansdaughter by Elizabet Moon. If you also like real fantasy warfare with huge armies with swords and lances, fortress conquering with siege weapons and saboteurs, heroes with and without magic and the everlasting good vs. evil you must read this books.

 

Hmm actually the only paladin that I could stand was Keldorn from BG2. Adjantis, Sturm and Caladorn among others gave me a horrible impression of them.
Firstly, Keldorn's loyal to you. Unlike other pallys who would turn upon you for 'the greater good' at a moment's notice.
Keldorn's a tough guy, still fighting evil at his age. Gotta respect that amount of reselience in anyone.
He's not an intolerant little crap as he willingly journeys beside you even when he knows you're Bhaal Spawn, unlike most paladins.
He's solid and dependable in battle, wielding his sword with great effect and can provide great aid to a party with his dispel and true seeing abilities.
As for Mazzy, courage and strength are always qualities to be admired. She's deadly with her bow and she keeps my party confident with her Invoke Courage ability and basically she has the same voice as Falls-From-Grace. WOOHOO.
The ONLY 2 lawful good characters that I do not mind.
The rest of them can die, however. Sturm wasn't so bad though.

 

Sturm isn't a solamnic knight/paladin. He only chose to live after their codex.

Beside, in my oppinion, I think paladins should only be restricted to be lawfull, as they often appear to be discriminating in their views about evil races. Ie Keldorn attacks Viconiya, merely because she is a drow. I'm also happy, that in 3rd eddition, more races can become paladins.
