I just want to know if anybody knew about Rhapsody, it's a kind of metal - medieval music in a fantasy genre! IT RULE!!!!

My favourity song so far is ¨the village of dwarf¨

    Writing it down somewhere...

I just hope it's not power or true metal. Can't stand that stuff.

Well, judging after the songtitles I expect the worst. But hey, it cannot be worse than Manowar, can it? :mommy:

Rhapsody is really, really, *really* bad power metal. In my opinion of course. But, if you like them, more power to you.

    :thumb:

If you want good power(/progressive) metal try Symphony X. They manage to do fantasy based lyrics ("The Odyssey", "Eyes of Medusa", etc) without sounding cheesy. Plus they are superior musicians.

Okay, Manowar is still the worst, but these guys come close. They sound like Blind Guardian on speed. And that is scary. :aaa:

Thank you, Inquisitor. But this band sounds a lot like Dream Theater. And the voices from both dream Theater and Symphony X are not better than the one of this Rhapsody...thing.

I suggest trying folk metal. If you don't mind german lyrics, try Subway to Sally (Songs: "Unterm Galgen", "Das Messer" or "Tag der Rache"). The music's a lot better. The voice IMHO too.

But there almost have to be english bands in this category.

Hmmm... I have no problem with Symphony X vocals. Very emotive, but 'manly' at the same time and not too high pitched.

Dream Theater on the other hand... hehe the singing is pretty silly at time.

Don't consider Rhapsody pure power metal, it's "symphonic hollywood metal", as they describe it themselves. I like them, but the singer often has troubles hiding his italian accent.
