Richard Perle: Jumping Ship or Taking One for the Team?

    Richard Perle, one of the architects of the Iraq war and, in my opinion, one of the most dangerous and frankly nutty men to ever be allowed in our highest levels of government, has just announced that he's stepping down. Finally, a step in the right direction.

    He says he's doing so because he doesn't want his own bad press to reflect negatively on the president in the election year, and his attorney says he's quitting so he can focus full-time on bringing a lawsuit against the press for accusing him of a conflict of interest involving an outside company who stood to benefit from the Pentagon's good graces. Sound familiar, Mr. Cheney?

    Somehow I don't think this is the last we'll see of him.
