New Spring: The Wheel of Time is an excellent novel in which the central characters are Lan and Moiraine. In it you get a better workings of the testing which takes place within the White Tower for a woman to become Aes Sedai.

Here is a sample page, which is subject to page before it hits the shelves, enjoy :)

It's been a long time since I've read TWoT, but I thought the central character's name was Rand. But I might be wrong. :hmm:

New Spring is a prequel to the Wheel of Time novels, and was originally a novella. It has since been expanded into a novel, and I think it is supposed to be the first of three.

Ah, thanks. I only finished two of them and part of the third. It was enough for me, but I thought the Great Hunt was pretty good.
