    The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences in its wisdom has decided to name the Kingmaker module for Neverwinter Nights the roleplaying game of the year. Lo and behold.

    My instant reaction is (a) how on Earth is a module considered a game? (b) given that I don't actually remember any RPGs being released in 2004, what did it have to compete against?

    Looking at the website I see the only other nominated RPG was Vampires: Bloodline. I guess we can just :shake: and hope that someone actually releases a decent RPG in 2005.

    How ironic that a body that considers itself an Academy is so out of touch with the games it nominates, not to mention the whole concept of what a game even is. It seems to me all their nominations were chosen by lot rather than anyone actually playing anything. Either way, those people are clueless, that's plain enough.

    Oh, the irony. 2 members of the Board of Directors are from Atari, 1 from Stormfront and 1 from BioWare. Suddenly things are much clearer - you can draw your own conclusions. Thanks to Saint for the lead on this.
