hey, i was wondering can anyone tell me what exactly you *do* in a romance, and what the point is to have one. and i want to know is it possible for a romance with haer'dalis?

 

The NPCs will approach you and initiate conversation and the relationship will grow from there. It's just a nice way to add depth to the game and the characters, and they usually come with a few side quests as well. I would recommend the flirt packs if you're going to play one of the standard (Aerie, Jaheira, Viconia, or Anomen) romances.

There is currently no Haer'Dalis romance, but there is one in development at the Gibberlings Three boards.

Yes. if you're into porn, the flirt packs and the Imoen romance are a good way to go....

 

Porn? Hardly. The flirtpacks merely allowe you to play the romance the way you want to. You have the option to grab your girlfriend's breasts (or boyfriends crotch) every 5 minutes as well, but it doesn't mean you'd *have* to do that. Take it easy, or go wild, whichever way suits you best.

The only thing I found lacking in the flirtpacks was that the NPC's weren't nearly as active as I would've liked them to be. While I'm perfectly aware of the extra trouble it would cause, I would've liked an option to control the activity level of the NPC. So that maybe it wouldn't have to be you who made advances on her (or him) all the time, but rather vice versa.

 

Heh. As it is people complain about LTs and flirts interrupting them preparing for combat or whatever. The timer cheat isn't too hard to work out if you want more NPC-init flirts.

 

That's not what I meant really. The flirts initiated by the NPC's aren't nearly as agressive and obscene as they can be from the player's side. They're not too shy either, but that's precisely what I'd like more control over. Not time, but content.

It is true that advancing the time makes the game a bit more interesting. The strange thing about flirtpacks (which gamemakers should take note of) is that while there isn't all *that* much dialogue, even just browsing through the same discussions over and over again will make that otherwise boring hack'n'slash ever so much more interesting. Even if Jaheira/Viconia/Aerie answers with yet another of her same 3 choices when I hug her for the millionth time, it still feels somewhat refreshing every time. Good job on that one btw.

Well, I really did try to go as far as I could justify for the characters and still feel comfortable that they were being accurately portrayed. I thought that on the whole, all four get appropriate displays of both affection and attraction.
