Game just came out in the US, and it comes to Europe on Friday. Who's getting it? Got it on pre-order myself. Sure, not everything they promised made it into the game, but it still look ****ing awesome.

 

It wouldn't run on my computers here, but when I'm back at uni I'm ordering it immediately. It's had some great reviews, and looks amazing. The only game I've been this excited about is Oblivion.

 

My husband had the demo on his computer and he showed it to me. Although I don't generally (almost never) play FPS games I thought the graphics were outstanding and they looked even better than oblivion.

 

Installing a demo version now, I'm psyched!

 

I can't find a playable demo. I've only seen the demo movies.

 

It's about the Chernobyl aftermarth right? It looks good.

 

It's about a second Chernobyl aftermath. Imagine if Fallout were 3d and a bit more "modern".

I'm having a blast myself. Found a scope that I attached to my rifle, and suddenly it's ungodly.

Seems they've picked a number of elements from Roadside Picnic. I'm a little cautious of this being an FPS, considering your Register's comments made it seem like an RPG at one point. It does seem to be different from the run of the mill shooters though. Might give the demo a shot.

Because they're **** in todays world. FPS is where it's at. Fast paced action. Games are a bit of fun for when you're bored, not a ****ing obsession!

As for the rest, yes, it's FPS, and I was a bit leery of it too. However, many things it does could not be done if it weren't an FPS. However, there's a mod coming out making it possible to play in third person too.

As for the game, it's horribly addictive and realistic. If you shoot while walking and/or not aiming, you are not gonna hit. The game is so far the most realistic game weapon-wise.

 

I think so, well, anything that's not MMORPG is where it's at...

I was a little concerned about the 8.5, but then Doom3 got the same, and I loved that..

 

Counter-Strike is a horrible game that tries to pass by as being realistic when it's nothing but a standard shooter.

 

It was warez, yes, but I only got it because I couldn't wait until the game came out.

It's out now, yes, and I got the real thing. Had it preordered and all, so I saw nothing wrong with what I did.

But yeah, better direct discussion to the actual game instead.

 

Well, it beats all other mplayers of a similar vein, it must do, since more people play it than any other, but what you say is exactly what cs noobies think at first. When you figure out how to aim and how to "play" properly then it becomes a great game, and very addictive, but at first, it must seem like the worst game ever...

 

Having read all your opinions about this game, I am totally psyched!! However, before I rush out and buy it, I have to ask, will this run on the following config?? If so, what level of detail and performance can I expect??

Wait for the demo, and then see how it runs. No one can make a guess.. Your card is pretty crappy though, you might have to play it at really low res to get the fps up.
