    While it wouldn't surprise me, the source makes me more than a little suspicious.

    Plus, wasn't there a lot of noise made about Turks being the ones who actually captured Saddam, a little after the time he was captured?

    As AMaster said, it wouldnt surprise me if it was true but the sources are as of yet vague and uncertain.

    It all did seem a bit too perfect from the US side of finding the feared dictator in a hole, dirty and dishevelled and not doing anything to resist while the US troops just happened to have a camera tagging along. Either way it doesnt really matter, if anyone is surprised that things are manifactured for propaganda reasons in war they probably still believe in the Tooth Faerie.

    I also seem to remember that there was a bit of ruckus cause no credit was given from the start a large Turkish contingent who had also been present.

    Marine Corps is theoretically a ground formation in the Navy, but I won't bet my lunch money on whether civilian people observe the difference.

    Well, I remember that soon after the capture I heared an interview with interview on Democracy Now with Retired Air Force Colonel Sam Gardiner (who also wrote this article on the issue) who said the operation showed all indications of a psyop.

    The interview can be downloaded here . The interview was on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2003.

    PS: Most of the stuff talked about there is sort of rumour, but the interview with Gardiner is the really interesting part.

    I think this story is hogwash. One should ALWAYS be skeptical of conspiracy theories(if nothing else). IF there were any truth to this then we would have been privy to credible evidence from credible sources(seeking some of that "Heroic whistleblower" spotlight).

    Joacqin. you'd be surprised how many American soldiers carry cameras with them. My brother always carried one, and he's got some pretty interesting stuff. Like Iraqi men engaged in a slap fight. Funny as hell.
